Year SixSeason: Winter Month: December Breeding / Birthing: Year Round There is no end to how cold it is getting, and there is only more winter to come! With the cold season comes extremes of ice and snow that can be painfully sharp on the paws in the north, even for the thickest pelts. Snow has been spotted in even the southern region's woodland cliffs and marshes.

The young warrior led the Alyxian songstress to the peaceful lake. The lemures towered above the forest nearby as the sun climbed to the highest point in the sky. The march air was beginning to warm and already the Ace could see the snow melting from the branches of the trees. Spring was coming and the birds chirped their praises to the mother earth. Hythyr stopped at the edge of the lake and gazed upon it's waters. Other creatures made their way to the life giving pool in the inner part of the woods, heedless of the two predators nearby. Hythyr turned and faced Zitori, smiling with his bright winning grin. "We're here! Welcome to the lake. It's one of my favorite places. Peaceful, no?" Hythyr felt the breeze as it gently glided across the lake and he leaned into it, closing his eyes with relaxation. He went and took a drink from the lake before settling down in the grass in front of the bard. Hythyr was lying down as he looked up at her and spoke, a cheerful tone resonating in his voice. "So you said you sing. May I hear a song? I do enjoy listening to a good piece of music." Hythyr's eyes shined with nostalgia. In his days as a wanderer in the wilds he would often hear songs from the voices of great singers. The loners that had musical talent often like to show it off to strangers, seeing as they normally didn't have an audience as pack troubadors did. Hythyr was curious as to what Zitori would sing about. Often the songs had some sort of story behind them. Did Zitori sing of stories from the past or did she prefer the ballads of praise to the world around them?

(OOC: First off thank-you Yahtzee for the beautiful table! I love it! Secondly sorry that’s it's taken me a while to get to this post, but I wanted to do it justice as it will be the first time Zitori has actually sang a song with words, and by sing I mean howl for how else would a wolf sing? Anyway this 'song' is based on the Story of Wulf as howled down by the Bukov wolves in The Wolves of Time: Journeys to the Heartland by William Horwood. Zitori was created with the book in mind. Sorry if its a bit long and iffy, It was hard to try and re-work this into my own telling and it if you just want to skim it, skim away!)
Zitori's eyes appraised the wild beauty of the surrounds, the lake was indeed beautiful, and she could see herself coming here in the future alone. A place like this would be perfect for the composing of songs, and melodies seemed to drift in the air here like invisible currents.
The pale lady smiled at the cheerful Ace, liking that she felt so relaxed around him now, even though his status in the pack was now much more exalted than her, he still was friendly and approachable, unlike some wolves that let power change them. "This is indeed a peaceful place, thank-you for showing it to me."
His eyes watching her felt like he could see her soul, and she felt a small flutter of nervousness, she had not sung for other wolves very often, only a pawful of times. "I shall sing you a song from my birth-pack the Stargazers. This story is sung to every pup by their mothers and is the first story heard by our ears." she continued. "I hope you enjoy it, and I hope I can do it justice, as I have not sung this song alone before."
She settled herself before him, centering her being and drawing herself up straight, drew a breath and threw her head back, her howl starting softly and strengthening as she sang.
“In the beginning of things there was Wulf. He roamed the land and created the wolf-ways Where he rested his head became holy places and he freed the wolf-gods from the stones, trees and lakes and they became his pack. The followed him and created the last of the wolf-ways But Wulf felt that his pack was not complete nor the wolf ways as he neared maturity so he journeyed back to where he began, known as Wulf Rock and made the final wolf-way. There on the rocks where he had broken out the she-wolf Wulfin waited, he knew not where she came from as she was a mystery as Wulf himself. So he took her as his consort and his mate and the pack of the gods was complete.
Wulf and Wulfin mated and decreed that their pups would form mortal wolf-kind and together would form the last wolf-god, each mortal wolf being a part of something greater than themselves and whose truth may be glimpsed in life but only fully know in death when they rejoined the gods.
So the god reared the cubs and taught them all the wisdom they would need, the lore of rock and tree, lake and of life. The gods were excited by what they made but some desired them, and some envied them because even the gods have weaknesses.
So Wulf commanded that no god should consort with a mortal wolf and that mortal wolf-kind should forget it origins. The gods were to be invisible to them and watch the mortal wolves unseen. If any god broke the law and consorted with a mortal wolf, their punishment and torment would last as many days as they had consorted with mortal wolf.
Wulfin was wise and so decreed that mortal wolf-kind would have distant memories of the gods and sometimes see them in the stars, to guide them on the wolf-ways made for them, so that when they were full of fear, and when they seek our courage something of us may come to them.
So it was that the mortal pups forgot their origins and scattered from the place of their birth, coming to fear the Wulf Rock, forgetting it and seeing it as a place of great mystery not to be approached my mortal wolf-kind The gods receded back to the places that Wulf freed them to watch and whisper to the mortal wolves. Each wolf was left with an echo of what they had been and each pack shared these memories that once in the past they were was gods and they had been one with them.
The wolves reigned for many years, sharing the land with all creatures even the men, who were weak and few. Time passed and shadows fell over the land, and the Men started to grow in numbers and greed taking from the land and destroying the wolves and their sacred wolf-ways
Why did the gods not see and come to their aid? Wasn't it their task to combat the men and help mortal wolf-kind? Or did the gods not see? In truth the gods are as blind and fallible as mortal wolves and more arrogant. The gods chose not to see the curse of men on wolf-kind
The doom of the wolves drew near and one god saw this, it was Wulf himself, but why had he finally seen? He had broken his own law and consorted with a mortal wolf. The first time Wulfin forgave him and Wulf was shamed. The second time Wulfin forgave him and Wulf was angry but the third time, the skies were filled with shooting stars and the earth shuddered for the whole year of his sin. Wulf's mate conceived a mortal litter and Wulfin could not forgive him.
Wulf had broken his own law and as the pups grew in the mortal she-wolves belly Wulf grew weaker and started to die. Wulfin had also seen the danger of the men and came to Wulfin and told him how it was to be, “As you broke your own law and are guilty you shall be punished. For a thousand days you went with a mortal wolf and so for a thousand years you must live and die as a mortal wolf. You shall know the pain and suffering of mortal wolf. You who should of seen the rise of the man and corrupt the world shall now live the pain and suffering of the wolves for a whole millennium.
Your mate shall give birth to two pups and you shall be one. You will forget your origins and be born an ordinary wolf and die and be reborn. Each life you will learn something of what a god should know, but you will still not know what you are, as your wisdom grows so will your suffering. When you have lived all your lives you must learn all you learnt in one lifetime, suffer all you suffered, loose all you have lost and still able to raise your head to see the stars and all that you once lost, if you have the strength to be the god you were you will be restored as Wulf once more and save mortal wolf-kind from it peril. If you fail all wolf-kind shall perish.”
Wulf stared into the wise eyes on his Wulfin who loved him and still loved him despite his sins. He saw what he had already lost in her eyes.
“What of the other cub?” he whispered
Wulfin was silent for a long while, unsure if she would name who that other cub would be, but then she spoke “That other cub shall be me, so you shall not be alone on the earth. Through all your suffering I shall be the one mortal wolf that shall love you true.”
“Will you know who I am?' asked wolf as the birthing of the mortal she-wolves cubs started to draw him to the start of his millennia of suffering.
“I shall not forget” whispered Wulfin. “For surely I am to blame for your fall, and my suffering shall be to watch the suffering all your lives, unable to help you until the last of your lives. I shall bear this cross as a show of my love for you.”
And so Wulf died, and was reborn mortal, to suffer for a thousand years striving to regain the knowledge of the gods. Wulfin followed him, marked with a cross to do what she might to bring comfort to the one she loved although he would never know who she was.”
The song shivered and sunk on the air. Zitori felt a huge rush of tiredness wash over her. She felt she had sung the song well, although the end always made her feel uncomfortable. The cross she bore on her back was why her pack thought she was special, they all thought that she was Wulfin incarnate, sent to find Wulf in his suffering. She wasn't sure that she believed the story, she had no memories of Wulf or that she was Wulfin, she felt it was just coincidence that she had a cross marking her pelt, many wolves had crosses marking their pelt. She had sun the song because it had been her favourite as a pup, before the whole nonsense about the cross on her back began. She hoped that the Ace would not make the connection, that was her past, and she was glad to be free of it.
She stood a little stiffly and took a drink of the sweet water of the lake and the seated herself again. She glanced shyly towards Hythyr wondering if he had enjoyed the song.

Hythyr smiled at Zitori as she thanked him for showing her to the lake. "Don't worry about it. I'm always glad to show my fellow packmates around." Hythyr settled in as she began to sing the song of her old pack. It was a creation story that Hythyr was new to. Hythyr had heard several creation stories over his lifetime from some of the friendly, older wolves he had met as a loner. Hythyr was a little surprised that her own people's creation story was similar in some ways to others he had heard before. Hythyr supposed that stories often traveled between packs. In fact, when he thought about it, Zitori was passing it on to him now. She had a beautiful singing voice. It rose and fell with an expertise that Hythyr did not often hear. She had an ever so slight hint of an accent that the bark furred wolf found appealing. As she came to the end with the sad Wulf having to live a thousand years of mortal lives, Hythyr grinned at the light furred wolfess. "That was beautiful! Where did you learn to sing like that?" Hythyr stood and faced the songstress, a wag in his tail and an aura of cheerfulness in his expression. "You must be proud to have such talent. How long have you been practicing it?" Hythyr was excited to have such a talented singer and storyteller in the pack. Hythyr couldn't help but wonder what Antoinette sounded like. She said that she was a storyteller herself and though she was sick at the moment Hythyr wanted to hear her sing as well. Hythyr returned his attention to Zitori and continued asking her questions, beginning to feel a bit like the kid he had met at the monoliths. "Did you hear stories often before you came here?"

If a furred face could blush, Zitori would have been completely red in the face. She felt her blood rise and tingle at the praise of the bark coloured man. ”That was beautiful! Where did you learn to sing like that?" she dropped her head shyly and stole a glance at him. "Flattery? Or does he really mean it?" she thought. "You must be proud to have such talent. How long have you been practising it?"
"I have sung since I was just a pup, as all pups of the Stargazer Clan are taught to sing. My mother taught me most of what I know, she had a most beautiful voice, and knew all the histories of the Clan." she gazed out over the lake, a soft pain blossomed in her chest as she thought of her old pack, especially her mother who she had loved the most. Her mother had been the most gentle when pressing her hopes and dreams on the young girl, knowing that she was uncomfortable with the expectations that were pushed onto her. She had always told Zitori that things would unfold the way they would and she would find her paws on the right path.
"All the songs I know are from my former pack." she replied. "I am hoping I will learn the songs from Torva and other places too and then finally compose and sing the songs of the Alyixo pack." she looked over at Hythyr finding it hard to believe that the first time his dark coat had stabbed fear into her heart. He was a kind wolf and confident, she wasn't overly surprised that he had been promoted to Ace, he seemed so sure of everything he did. "Maybe I shall make a song about the brave bark man and how be became an Ace." she kept her voice light and teasing, she hoped, as she didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable or anything, also she wasn't sure at how he might react to such a thing, after all, she had only known him for a short time.
She was aware that maybe she had not answered his questions completely, but she was too shy to speak in praise of her own talents, she was no so sure of herself that she could talk about her talents or lack of them, although the praise she received from the bark man had made her feel more confident in her voice and ability to sing.

The singer seemed a little embarrassed when Hythyr praised her singing. Her eyes darted side to side and she looked down some. Hythyr smiled some and wondered what she was embarrassed about. She began to explain the origin of her wondrous voice. Hythyr nodded as Zitori explained that her mother had taught her the skill behind her songs. "Then I suppose such skill is hereditary." The man wagged his tail as she continued on. Hythyr stood silent for a moment when she said she'd make a song about him before chuckling heartily. "That'd be a challenge! You'd have to embellish alot, my story isn't too interesting." Hythyr gazed at her and found himself curious. The forest dweller tilted his head to the side as he asked about her. "You said you were from outside of Torva. What brought you here and how did you find out about Alyxio?" Hythyr looked toward her a nervous grin on his face. "Sorry if I'm intruding, I'll tell you about myself if your curious." Hythyr held his emerald gaze on her. His eyes were filled with curiosity. Hythyr wanted to know more about all the members of his pack and this lady had peaked his interest. She hadn't revealed much about herself, so naturally he found himself wandering about her. However, she seemed somewhat shy to the warrior and he didn't want to put her off with too many questions. Hythyr noticed that she had some strange markings on her back. They seemed to be two lines that crossed each other in a t or perhaps an x shape. Hythyr had seen strange markings before and so he didn't think too much about it. His eyes returned to hers as he awaited her answer.

The man was just so friendly that she couldn't help but smile and wag her tail in response, it seemed that it was not just simple flattery that had dropped from his words like honey, and for that the pale lady was happy. She was starting to like Hythyr more and more, she had never been very close to male wolves with most of her experiences having been bad, but she was starting to feel that she could trust this man.
"Oh! But every wolf has a story worth singing" she exclaimed as he suggested that his story wasn't that interesting, "Every wolf has a life worth value, some are far greater than others, but we all play out part." her green eyes shone, as they often did when she felt passionate about things. "You really must tell me the story some day, and I shall compose you a song." she couldn't stop the passion in her voice from coming through, so far all the songs she had sang were learnt and she was eager to try her voice at composing new songs.
"As for how I came to Torva," a slight frown crossed her pretty face, "Well that is a long story, I would not want to bore you by talking your ears off all the day." Part of her wanted to tell him, as if saying the words would help wash away the wounds and help her put the past behind, but at the same time she didn't know if she could tell him on what had happened while in the clutches of her uncle, and if she could tell him the shame of aborting the pups she had carried. The pain of that memory washed over her, threatening to drown her as it always did, even after this time it still pained her that she had done what she did, even though in the end her act had probably saved her life and saved the innocent pups from whatever foul plans her uncle had.
She gathered her thoughts, blinked her eyes and looked deep into the green gaze of Hythyr, it was strange, before she believed she had never seen a wolf with green eyes, but here the shade did not seem so unusual although his eyes were much darker than her pale green ones. His eyes seem to slide over her, examining her, curious to know more about her. She smiled as his gaze settled back on her eyes, no challenge loomed there as often locked gazes indicated in the canine world.
”Tell me yours, and I shall tell you mine." she said, her mind suddenly made up, "Tell me about your life, where you are from and how you have come to this place now. Then I shall tell you my story, long as it may be." she felt her mouth start to open in a grin, it had been a long time since the lady felt so happy and free, but bantering here on the shores of the lovely lake with the bark furred Ace, she suddenly felt carefree, as if nothing could ever go wrong. Maybe she was finding that peace that the voices had promised her.

Zitori seemed to be as curious about the Ace as he was of her. Her own light green eyes stared into the emerald pools with a questioning look about them. She seemed a little disturbed when he asked how she got to Torva. She looked a little reluctant to speak of it saying it was a long story. Her expressions reminded him a bit of Cadmon as he thought of his past. Perhaps the creme lady had experience similar hardships in her time before she came to the Torvain regions. Hythyr nodded in understanding. She seem more comfortable with him telling her his own story. Hythyr smiled a bit as he started. "Alright then, but I must warn you my own story is pretty long in itself." Hythyr chuckled a bit before continuing on. "I was born and raised in the woodlands here. My mother had apparently wandered from some place outside of Torva; she never said where she was from. Anyways she gave birth in the hollow of a tree, all of the pups in the litter were stillborn, except for me. She raised me in the woods teaching me the skills I needed to survive. It was a pretty relaxing state of being for a while. We simply wandered around the woods, talking and meeting other loners. Often times they were nice people and would tell me stories and such as I was a young curious pup. There were times we were attacked by other wolves and they stole our food. Those times were miserable, we found ourselves hungry for at least a few days after those events. As I grew older both my mother and I became stronger fighters able to fend off such scavengers. One day we were eating a catch when this wolf came up to us. He seemed a little delusional and what he was saying didn't make any sense. He attacked us, but we fended him off easily. The only injury was a slight bite he got on my mother's shoulder so we didn't think too much about it. A week or so later she had what seemed to be heat stroke so I took her into the shade of the large oak tree." Hythyr indicated the direction of the woods the oak tree was "You can almost see the top of it from here. Anyways, She began to get more and more sick and she seemed to be decaying. she died of the disease after a week. I buried her under the tree because the spot was beautiful in the summer. It was awhile before I recovered from that. When I did I decided that I wouldn't allow something like that to happen again. I began going around and fighting off wolves that tried to steal from others. Since then my life hasn't been too different. I joined Alyxio last fall and then suddenly Fanul decided that he truted myself and Hestia enough to make us Aces." Hythyr chuckled a bit as he thought about the situation. "Funny enough though we are the beta pair we aren't mated. It works out though, she seems to have a good head on her shoulders." Hythyr returned his gaze back to Zitori. You're turn! unless you don't want to." The forest guardian regarded her with a smile and a look of curiosity.

Sage green eyes gleamed with tears at the sadness of the story, but was so impressed by the sheer will and goodness of the Ace, tragedy made a protector of him when many wolves would of withdrawn from wolf-kind in bitterness and isolation. "I am sure that your mother is very proud of the wolf you have become." she said softly. She didn't know if he believed that the spirits of the wolves passed looked down on them or not.
She felt a strange lurch in her heart as he mentioned Hestia and how they were not a mated pair even though their rank matched. She didn't know what the strange feeling was, sure she liked Hythyr, her respect for him was growing the more she knew about him but his mention of not having a mate stirred something deep inside her. She just tried to ignore it, she wasn't made for love, and anyway, she was unworthy of such a thing, she would never have a mate or pups.
Now he had finished his story, and she almost took the out he gave her, she could just say that she didn't want to tell him, but he had told her his story and had spoken of things that were painful for him, and she had said she would share if he did, so she knew she had to keep her word. His curious look and smile drove her on, she hoped that after this he wouldn't shun her for her sins.
Her voice soft and light, she started her story, “I was born to the Stargazer clan, a pack very far from here. I had two brothers and a sister but I was chosen to be heir to the Stargazer clan because of my eyes and markings on my pelt. Green eyes are very uncommon where I come from and are seen to mean a wolf is destined for great things.
I was taught the skills I would need to lead the pack, but I wanted to be a soul sage, like my mother and sing to the spirits in the sky and hear their songs in return. I learnt to sneak away from my teachers so I could wander alone on our mountain homes. There were many beautiful meadows full of flowers and sunlight where I would dream away my hours.” her eyes shone with the happy memories of her early life.
She took a breath, knowing that now the story took a turn that still hurt her, but she needed to tell it, it was part of her and could never be erased. “Unfortunately for me, my wanderings had caught the attention of my Uncle, a wolf that had been exiled from the pack after he challenged my father for the Alpha position and mating rights with my mother. He had been lurking around the edges of the pack territory, we had all been warned to never go near him and tell the pack if he we saw him near. One day when I was dreaming in a meadow he ambushed me and made me go with him.
He told me that I was going to be his Alphena and start the greatest pack of all time with him. I cried for him to let me go, but he said that he would kill me and my pack if I tried to run away or betray him. Those were dark days, and as soon as I was able he mated me, so that I would produce him pups to start his army. I still dreamed of running away but now that I was to have pups he told me that if I ran he would kill me and the pups.
I knew I could not stay there, every time I thought of the pups that were growing in me I felt sick and helpless, I was taught that there is nothing more sacred than the life of pups but I didn't know if I could love these pups or allow him to teach him his evil ways, and I knew that as soon as I was able he would force me to produce more pups for him.
I tried to fool him into thinking I was happy to be his Alphena and that I was proud to carry his pups so he would not watch me so carefully, as he knew I was good at sneaking. He relaxed somewhat and one night I crept away from him. I knew I couldn't get away from him in my condition as the pups were heavy in my belly so I.... “ her voice cracked, and tears started to slide from the sage green eyes, glinting like diamonds on her furry cheek, “I found the herbs that I had been taught if taken would cause... the pups to, the pups, they would be born too early and die. I ate the herbs and hated myself for it, but it was the only way I could see that would allow me to escape. The pups were born, there were three, so tiny, so perfect.
Then I ran. I couldn't go back to my pack, my Uncle would look for me there and kill us all, and anyway, I had committed a terrible sin, they would never forgive me, never understand why I did it. So I just kept running, my Uncle chased me of course, and almost caught me several times but somehow I managed to escape.
I came to Torva by accident really, I have been travelling for so far for so long, I finally felt that he wasn't chasing me anymore. I was drawn to the mountains by something I cannot explain, they reminded me of my home, but something made me feel that there I would find what I was looking for, then I met Hestia and Fanul, he allowed me to join the Alyxio pack, where I am encouraged to follow my dreams to sing and tell the stories off the pack. So here I am, trying to hone my skills and make the pack proud of me.”
The pale lady feel silent. The last tears dropped from her fur and she felt somehow lighter, like telling someone had freed her in some way. She turned her green gaze on the man, hoping that she wouldn't see horror and disgust in her eyes, she didn't want Hythyr to hate her, she felt like she might explode into tiny shards if he hated her now, but as the same time she expected to see it on his face.

Hythyr smiled as she spoke of his mother. "I like to think she is. I visit her often." He remained silent as she spoke of her past. Hythyr didn't realize that there could be so much pressure involved with being part of one. Nothing much was ever expected out of him out of anybody. His mother and him had just traveled and survived. He couldn't imagine being expected to do great things from the moment he was born. She hadn't been given freedom to do what she wanted and the Ace was astounded at how anyone could think they had the right to force anybody to do what they didn't want to with their life. She went on about how she would sneak out and how her uncle captured her. The forest guardian felt anger in his chest at the evil man as she spoke of him. Hythyr hated injustice anywhere. If Zitori's uncle were there in that present moment Hythyr would have attacked him with the intent to kill. Hythyr knew that freedom was a precious thing and he felt that anyone who took away someone else's freedom deserved nothing less than to perish. He let his inner anger calmed abit as she went on about her escape. She began to cry as she spoke of the pups and what she had to do to escape. Hythyr's gaze became soft as she finished up her sad story. He stood up and approached her; a comforting expression on his face. He brushed some of her tears away with his snout before looking her in the eyes. "Listen, I'm not here to judge you. If you think what you did was wrong then you need to forgive yourself. To me it doesn't matter what you did in the past. You're here now. Just know that I'll protect you no matter what danger comes here. You have my promise Zitori, I will never let anything happen to you while there's still breath in my lungs and a beat in my heart." Hythyr smiled at the creme songstress. He stood tall and strong for the beautiful creme wolf. Indeed, he saw her beauty and her kindness. He would protect her with his dying breath as he would for the rest of his pack. However, there was something different about the poet before him and he didn't know what it was.

The lady thought that she might die, a sweet pain pierced her heart as the Ace brushed the tears from her fur, his touch was gentle and full of comfort. His words filled her ears and were full of acceptance and understanding and she felt like her heart could explode, he did not hate her, if he could forgive her sins, and the spirits could forgive her sins, maybe she could also forgive herself. The pain would always remain, but if she could let it go she could heal and find that peace that she so craved.
Just know that I'll protect you no matter what danger comes here. You have my promise Zitori, I will never let anything happen to you while there's still breath in my lungs and a beat in my heart. the words filled her with such gratitude and joy, here was a man that she could trust, he said he would protect her and she believed him, it thrilled her to know that one wolf could care so much for another, although she knew that he would protect the whole pack with his life, the words affected her deeply.
Her eyes took in the beauty and strength of the man before her, he was a protector of the weak, and here she was weak and needing protection. "Hythyr....." her words caught in her throat, she wanted to say something to express how she felt, but her mind was tangled as to what that was, she didn't want to make small the gratitude she felt, but she didn't want to overstep the boundaries of their relationship, she was so unsure of what she was feeling, was she beginning to love this wolf? Could she even do that? Or was she just grateful that he accepted her past? And then there was the man before her, he may just look at her as a sister, a pack-mate that needed his protection as any other pack member. She remembered the soft touch of his muzzle to her cheek, "Thank-you, I don't think I can express just so much I appreciate your support and protection." she gazed at him, not averting her gaze as she often did.
She stood up, her heart pounding, he was so close to her, she hoped he could not hear the thunder of her heart. She threw her fate to the stars and dared. Her muzzle to his she gently licked him, a gesture of affection, sweet and unsure, she hoped that he would accept her tender caress, if he did not, she would accept it and leave. One could never force another in matters of the heart.

He saw the relief and happiness in her eyes as he spoke to her. He smiled gently as she spoke of her gratitude and felt a lightness in his own heart as he watched her spirits lift. He always looked to make that sort of connection with others. He never felt better than when he could bring joy to others. He did what he did in order to help preserve that happiness; that freedom. He never want anything more than... His thoughts were broken by her kiss. It caught him completely off guard and he stood silent for a moment processing what had happened. He looked at his paws and glanced around to make sure he wasn't daydreaming. He turned his forest gaze on her. His stunned expression slowly turned into a deep grin of joy as he chuckled at his own reaction. "Funny. You struck me as really shy." He leaned forward and gently licked her back. His eyes flashed with a joy he couldn't explain. Just being with her was enough to him in a good mood now. "Zitori... you've made me happy this day. I must admit that I... I think I'm starting to fall for you." Hythyr felt heat rise up in his cheeks. He couldn't believe he had just admitted that to her. He didn't think about what he said. He simply spoke what was on his mind. He hoped that she felt the same way. He looked side to side nervously, lowering his ears. He looked rather silly as he became embarrassed. He looked at the lovely creme lady with his face turned in an flustered grin.

Her heart was still beating a frantic song in her chest that only seemed to intensify as he stood still, shocked although he didn't look angry or disgusted, in fact he looked..... happy. A smile spread over his face and his eyes shone at her conveying his joy at her action. ”Funny. You stuck me as really shy.” his words made her giggle a little and look away from him. "I don't know what came over me." she said, very softly but daring to look at him again.
His kiss thrilled her, more than she ever thought it could, it was just a touch of tongue to muzzle, why did it stir one so much? She had never wanted to kiss a wolf before, and she was still surprised at herself that she had done so, where had she gotten up the courage? The bark coloured male made her feel like she could do anything and be anyone if only she had him by her side to catch her if she fell.
His admission of affection for her made her feel like she might explode from all the joy, how could one wolf contain such a feeling? "I would very much like to fall with you." she whispered, smiling gently at his embarrassment, she could well understand it, part of her wanted to hide away, so no one could see and part of her wanted to roar to the world that she was happy and this man made her so.
The tension was killing her, she lapped up some icy water from the crystal lake at their feet. Then stood beside him, just barely touching him and looking out over the water. She was at a loss of words, there was nothing to be said so she stood, hoping that the wolf beside her wasn't a dream and that she was about to awaken to find herself alone in her den. She had always believed that she was not meant for love, just to sing to the skies and hope that the spirits would accept her offering, now she felt like she had something more to live for and it stood there in the form of a bark coloured wolf with forest green eyes.

He felt his heart fly like a bird on the wind as she spoke. She loved him as well and there was nothing that ever made him feel more victorious. He had searched all of Torva looking for true happiness. He fought many an evil wolf and had brought safety to many innocents. The victory he felt in those moments were mere rags before the beautiful tapestry had found in this small creme lady. He held himself up now, no longer embarrassed. She made him feel more powerful than he had ever felt. She sat beside him now and he knew there was no challenge he couldn't face. There was no height he could not reach and no danger he couldn't dissipate with her next to him. He felt her beside him and the warmth from her comforted him. His mind was at ease and the lake breeze stirred his fur as he took in the moment, savoring the feeling. He turned his gaze back to her, his eyes wondering at her beauty. She was precious. Perhaps all the time he had spent protecting others was simply to protect her. There was no longer anything more important to him than her. She had become his purpose, the woman he could rely on and his center. He kissed her head and cheek and smiled softly at her.
"I love you." He spoke with confidence now, no longer did doubt cloud his face nor did embarrassment hold him back. A simple statement that meant so much. To him there was nothing more true.

It seemed strange, this peace. She could hardly believe that she had found it, after all this time, after all the trials the spirits had finally granted her peace, her dream and hearts desire, and in finding that she had found that peace was not the only desire in her heart and somehow she had found love as well. She felt truly blessed , sitting there by the most beautiful surrounds with the wolf that she didn't even know she had been searching for.
As the words she never thought to hear directed in her way fell from the mouth of the wolf she loved she nuzzled his shoulder and then licked him lovingly, " I love you too Hythyr." she said softly, almost a whisper. She had never felt so content as she did now, she just wanted the moment to last forever, so she set to remembering every detail of this moment, fixing it firmly in her mind so that she could relive the moment whenever she desired.
"I do hope the pack is not displeased." she said, reality flooding in. She had seen wolves that loved each other forced apart because of pack rules, but she believed that she lived in such a pack that would not impose harsh rules on love, if they did, they would find a way to be together.
Sunset blushed and stained the waters with its hue. Wavelets sparkled in the last of the rays, small birds darted over the water snapping up insects before they retired to their nests for the night ahead. They should also depart for their dens, wolves could not live on love alone, although the pale lady wished it was so.
