As her pawsteps brought her ever closer to the border of the pack called Nix'Rio, Lead by the dark Alpha, Azren. She had been informed that this Lord can be violent, and she was not sent alone. The fiery she-wolf, Saint, and the dark Champion, Hythyr, were sent along with her, to accompany her to the border of the Whispering vargo and help in case things went wrong. Hestia did not believe anything would go wrong, but was quite glad for the company. She was not one for being alone, and to talk with others was fun and gave one something to do, other than travel and hunt a few rabbits.

Nearing the border made the grey lady stand a bit taller. She would Represent Alyxio with pride, but she would show respect to the Nix'rio wolves as well. She knew that Hythyr was confident and respectful, very wise for such a young man. Saint she didn't know as well, but she had nothing against her, and was sure the fiery woman is a fine companion. The border was twenty feet away now, and Hestia slowed to a stop, her ears pricked. She glanced back to see if her companions were definitely with her, and then turned back to the border.

She raised her grey and white head to the skies and called to the Alpha. She sang as the ambassador of Alyxio, and called of Alliance and that they meant no threat. She shifted her tail a bit, asking to others to state their presence in call too. When she finished, she sat calmly and perked her ears towards the vargo, her silver eyes observant and patient. Whatever happened from here would mean a lot to the her pack, and she hoped that she could make this Alpha surely interested in Allying with Alyxio. Hopefully, Azren was already interested.

Yay for alliances! No posting order so this can go quickly?

The days were growing shorter as winter regained her chilling hold on the Vargo and Azren knew that food would need to be collected for the coming months. He also knew that enemies were the last thing he needed. An alliance with one of the other packs within Torva would be the best thing for Nix'rio and his plans were to approach the leader of Alyxio personally. He hadn't expected Fanul to be thinking on the same page as him but at the moment none of this was on his mind, he was scouting the borders, closely monitoring them in case Athena was planning a raid or what have you. With her psychotic behavior he never knew what was around the next corner.

He'd spotted the small group before they ever announced themselves and watched from a distance, taking in the scent of the newcomers. As the woman lifted her head in song he gave the others no chance to do the same as lifted his head and called out to them. "Welcome to Nix'rio my pretties, I'll be with you momentarily." The ashen king broke into a run, kicking up a cloud of snow in his wake. His lithe form moved in graceful strides toward the group, stopping short of the borders. This was unexpected but welcome, he only wished he could speak with the alpha himself.

He sat slowly. Alexander would not ruin this for him, today it was all Azren. "Your calling mentioned talk of an alliance. I'd wish to speak with your leader." He spoke softly as he watched the group. He was not saying yes or no and it was quite possible he wouldn't until Fanul was present. Perhaps he could send one of them away to get their leader while the others stayed to speak more with him. It sounded like a pleasant idea to him. First he would see that they had to say.

"Azren howls."

Hythyr followed Hestia to the Whispering Vargo where the midnight wolf ruled over the Nix'rio pack. He walked with an air of confidence and happiness. He had often traveled alone and it was heartening to finally have friends along with him. Hythyr had met both of these women before and found them to be delightful to be around. It wasn't long before Hestia started to slow down. Hythyr smelled the pack's mark heavy in the air. Hythyr was reminded of the feisty Dimitri and the headstrong Heike. He wondered if they were about when Hestia let out a howl, calling for the Alpha and mentioning the alliance. Hythyr was about to announce his own presence when the coal pelted male ran up and spoke to them. Hythyr bowed respectfully to the leader of the Nix'rio family.

"Greetings, I am Hythyr and my two friends are Saint and Hestia. Would I be correct in assuming that you're Azren? I'm afraid our leader isn't with us right now, but if there's anything you need we'd be more than happy to help." Hythyr was a little nervous. It wasn't that he was afraid of Azren, but that he would make a bad first impression. It made since that he wanted to speak with Fanul about an alliance, so Hythyr was a little afraid that he would feel insulted that the Visturo had not come. Hythyr tried to calm himself, and reminded himself not to worry about what he could not control.

The grey lady's howl had just finished when it was answered, and the answer gave her an odd, shivering sensation down her spine. What a strange reply. She suppressed a shake of her head and watched as the midnight form bounded towards her group, snow being thrown up into the air behind him. His words were curt and short, his words made it seem as though he would talk to no one else. Hestia dipped her head and was about to speak when Hythyr did, instead. His introduction gave Hestia a bit of an immature thought, about wanting to be the one to introduce everyone, but she ignored it and did not show it, dipping her head when her name was spoken.

"Yes, as Hythyr said, our Virtuoso did not accompany us. We have come to ask of your interest, because if you are interested in an Alliance, Fanul will be more than willing to visit these lands to speak with you." She spoke calmly, with her head bowed a bit in respect, and her tone polite, yet her play of words was an almost obvious question without asking. Are you interested or not? She did not look him in the eye, as that is a threat, but she did look him in the face, glancing at his dark irises in case she could catch any possible emotion in his features.

The dark male had an almost intimidating look about him, and he was an obvious leader with how he held himself and how he spoke. There was no way this was a beta or any subordinate, no wolf but the alphas would go straight into asking for their leader about an alliance. Things like this were only up to the leaders, and no one else.

I'm trying to hold off on chasing them away until Saint posts XD

Azren raised a brow. "His lack of presence is rather obvious, I didn't need you to point it out to me." He murmured, taking the two strangers words into consideration. Should he give them an answer? No, he had other plans for the small group of wolves, something that he was sure might be expected from someone such as himself. He stood and shook his coat free of the light powdering of snow and smiled. "There's always a reason to send someone seeking alliances, what is his, do you know?" Obviously there were other packs they could have sought out.

Already he was feeling antsy, reading to chase them away, demanding to hear from their alpha but for now he waited to see what more they had to say. Azren was not a pleasant man and he had no intention of making this easy for them.

Hestia paused to listen to Azren's words, his tone seemed rather irritated, and the she-wolf felt like they were having bad luck with this one. As he asked for a reason, she thought. Had he told her a reason? She cursed silently and allowed the pause to resume a moment longer. "Our lands are peaceful right now, we want to keep it as it is, and Nix'rio seems promising to Fanul." She said calmly, her gaze running over the territory in emphasis before turning back to the shadow before her.

"And I also see no reason why not to search for alliances," She added. "When packs like yours and ours can come together, we can be very powerful, and you can always trust Alyxio as an ally." She felt that this man may be one more interested in power than the alliance itself, and so she spoke smoothly, as if she had been told everything she was telling Azren. "Plus, you are always welcome to speak with Fanul, we can request him to come to you, if you like?" It seemed to Hestia that Azren was interested in talking about the alliance, he just wouldn't make it easy for the scouts ahead of their leader.

I hope this is okay! Let me know if it's not. :x

"That will be unnecessary," Fanul said, appearing like a fiery phantom that trespassed a realm that he was forbidden in outside of the mortal land. The Gods would even wonder where he had gone and how he could slither past them despite his bold beauty; it was as though he were mocking them and their concept of nature. Hestia's offer to fetch him was a good one, but Fanul had decided to appear on his own, trailing after his scouts and ambassadors a while after they had left.

He had his own businesses to attend to -- new members, a sick Antoinette and the romping pups. Alyxio might have been important, but there were other matters that throbbed upon the man's heart, and caused him to turn his head toward the health of his beloved and his children. However, Antoinette had assured him that she would be fine where she was and that the pups were obediently playing in their den and the safe, surrounding areas. Fanul trusted her word, and then took off, letting his lithe limbs carry him past the border of his own home and into strange, foreign lands.

He came to the Vargo, with a prideful scent in his step, although he was respectful and willing to speak to the alpha with an open mind. "Hello, Azren," he began again, a curious spark in his molten eyes. "I am the Virtuoso of Alyxio. I take it that you're interested in speaking with me?" Those who had come with him could relax now, unpressed by the Nix'rio leader's unrelenting gaze. Fanul knew that Azren would be a man of short temper and dark nature, and so he thought it important that he show his face on the border to alleviate any tensions. Let the conversation begin.

"Fanul howls."

Fanul to the rescue XD

The nervous behavior shown by the ambassador brought a curious smile to the obsidian man's lips followed by a soft and mocking chuckle. How wrong could she be about where his interests may lie and how silly she was to come to him without so much as an inkling as to what her alpha had in mind. He did not blame this on Fanul but on the woman who obviously trotted off of her lands without asking so much as a question about the task at hand. It was luck that had kept them from being chased off so far and fate that would deny him the pleasure indefinitely. The black beast stood proud on his lands, his head held high and his posture demanding respect. Pools of blue turned their attention to the stealthy leader as he appeared suddenly, like a ghost wondering the plains.

An outsider could describe the scene as the devil facing the brilliance of the supreme god, coming to offer him a trade or a truce. His smile only widened when the man spoke, finding that the day was full of fun surprises. "Fanul...a pleasure to meet you." He responded, pleased that he no longer had to muddle with mere commoners playing ball in a kings business. "I prefer to go straight to the source when it has to do with matters such as these, so yes. Besides, I think your abassador was about to have a nervous breakdown." His gaze turned to Hestia for a split second before returning to Fanul. He hoped that this would work out for the best.

Taking a moment to scan the area for anyone that should not be he stood. "Shall we walk, you can see the lands and we can speak of this alliance you seek. I'm interested, very interested..." He murmured softly.

"Azren howls."

Hestia was a bit surprised when Fanul appeared out of the shadows, but his pelt seemed to contrast Azren's so brightly that it seemed as if they came from the opposite worlds, one of bright, fiery color, the other of shadows and demons. The grey lady quickly dipped her head to Fanul respectfully as he spoke. Her ears perked to listen for a moment, then flattened when she was accused of nearly having a nervous breakdown. She wanted to childishly say "I was not!" but kept her thoughts to herself as she composed her features. She would explain to the Virtuoso later, but for now, she would simply act as if she did not care.

She listened as Azren admitted his interest, and his offer made her realize that the black man was not going to speak in front of the 'lower' wolves. "Shall we await you here, Fanul? Or head back?" She added, knowing all well that the Alpha could deal on his own, but the black wolf bring Fanul deeper into Alyxio did make her a bit nervous. This dark wolf gave her a bad feeling, he seemed dangerous to her.

He had come with some expectations in mind, although he had not thought much about them; he was a risk-taking, impulsive fox, and he relied upon one event to happen before setting off the potential chain of thought that might occur in his mind. And now, the cogs in his head turned slowly, analyzing the existing situation with a careful train of thought. "The pleasure is mine," Fanul said to Azren, a fox-grin spreading upon his black lips. Indeed, he was glad to have finally met the Nix'rio alpha, for he had heard many things about them from both Nahrus and X'yrin.

With a side glance to Hestia, Hythyr and Saint, Fanul dipped his head in return to his messengers. "You've done well," was all he said, and he turned to face the dark king again. "Indeed, I have heard much of the Vargo, and would like to see its vast expanse. If you would lead the way, lord, then I will be sure to follow." Perhaps the presence of his messengers was unnecessary, but the fact that he sent them made it look as though Fanul was more serious about the alliance. Otherwise, he wouldn't have bothered to send three good wolves out of the way. Of course, the most important aspect was that he had followed them.

As Hestia asked her question, he spoke, "Do as you will -- stay here and wait or return home. Your work is done here." They had done as he asked, and they would be rewarded with praise once Fanul left the Vargo and could speak with them freely.

Fanul to the rescue XD

Azren had turned his attention to Fanul now and paid the others in the group no mind as he trotted off towards the heart of the Vargo, away from those who were mere commoners in his eyes. Perhaps he would think differently once there was an alliance in place but for the moment his business was clear. It was interesting to see the two walking side by side, like day and night, the sun and the mood. He had heard from Nahrus about Fanul and was most certainly curious of the other man. "The Vargo is a beautiful place and plentiful as well. It's been...very good to us." He smiled, a genuine smile as he thought everything over.

"I've been to the mountains before you claimed the land Fanul and I must say that I am very amazed by it's beauty, it would seem it has it's natural defenses for your pack as well and the proposal of an alliance has given me some things to think about. I think that we could be a valuable asset to one another. Not only due to the fact there is power in numbers but the lands provide us with different things we could provide for each other." Oh yes he'd put a lot of thought into this. "It has come at a good time, should we decide to align my friend as I fear Demetrius may be planning a raid."

He quieted himself, leaving the other man with some things to think about. Wondering exactly what his opinion was or his thoughts of the alliance as a whole. Was there a reason he had sought out Nix'rio?

Yes... well, Azren gave him far too much credit. Even though Lemures Mountains was, indeed, a great place for Alyxio, a defensible fortress with many assets such as water and food, Fanul did not choose it for that purpose. He chose it solely because it was dear to his mate, and so he had fought for ownership, tooth and nail, fangs drawn and bloodied. But the fact was that the mountains were an excellent place to raise pups and begin a legacy -- Fanul could not complain about this coincidental fortune. It would serve Alyxio well in the event of an attack.

"I see the Vargo has served you well in establishing a pack," Fanul said. He knew there was a pack called Aro'lahn created here after the storm, but he had not expected another group to emerge from the ashes of Aro'lahn. The Vargo really must have been a plentiful place to sustain life here for two packs, especially since Azren had the chance to move once he won supremacy -- he chose to remain upon this gracious land. "Yes, the mountains are very dear to me and my mate."

And then the topic of conversation shifted. Fanul's ears perked up, and his interest grew, for this was the reason why he was here in the first place. Paw in front of paw, he listened carefully to what the black-clad man had to say; indeed, it looked as though things were going in both of their favor. "That is very possible. I am sure that the Vargo provides different vegetation than what grown on Lemures Mountains. Our healers could be of help to one another." The fox thought some more. "Our terrain is also quite useful for training purposes -- it strengthens the muscles and the heart." There was something to be said about racing up the slopes and clearing the rocks below, coupled with the chill mountain air. It kept Fanul in high spirits.

"And it looks as if the Vargo has its attributes as well..." As Azren continued to speak, a word slipped past his lips that caused Fanul to growl, a soft but jaded purr in his throat. "Demetrius. A month gone by, Athena from Demetrius trespassed upon my land and threatened my pups." He had not been present, but this was what he had heard from Antoinette, Oz and Erel. Of course, he trusted their word far more than giving the stranger the benefit of the doubt. "That name leaves an ill taste in my mouth."

"Fanul howls."

Whoo!Going well so far.

At the mention of the Vargo, Azren smiled. "It's served us well for some time, even before Morpheus left us. Unfortunate as his leave was, we've grown stronger since then and our numbers are increasing steadily. Prey seems to be plentiful and there are numerous herbs and barks that are beneficial for everything from wounds to an upset stomach. I don't regret staying here. It was the truth, nothing but. Azren enjoyed the Vargo for more then one reason, not only was the land plentiful but it was beautiful as well.

The thought of the two packs working together was exciting but what caught his attention was the mention of training in the mountains. It would be especially beneficial to Nix'rio's young who were used to the rolling hills of the Vargo and hadn't had a chance to really work their muscles. Azren had been in the mountains once before and his families pack was in a mountain region as well so he knew the benefits it could provide. "Training on the mountains would be beneficial to many of us here I think. It's been a long while since I've been up to the mountain regions and to be honest I miss it. It's a nice feeling running the mountains, a bit of a rush at some times."

And then, the last words of the golden man brought a soft growl from his ashen lips. "So Nix'rio is not the only pack that has suffered from Athena's threats..." The thought disgusted him. He slowly shook his head and uttered a soft sigh. "My friend, I think that we have a great many things in our favor, this alliance could be great for our packs. Shall we make it official?" He stopped and sat, looking to the other man with interest and curiosity. This could be the start of something grand and Azren thought that once it was official, he may take a trip to the lemurs, it might be nice to have a small change of scenery for a day.

Let's see if it's still okay. XD

He had sought out Nix'rio for two reasons -- one, because he did not trust Athena and would rather not have anything to do with a trespasser who distressed his wife and children. Two, because he had met both X'yrin and Nahrus in the past, and they both seemed to be wolves who were filled with honor and decency. In the event of a dispute or even a drought or famine, the help of Nix'rio would be greatly fortunate, and if Fanul did not act now, then perhaps Nix'rio would be turned against Alyxio. If they wished to establish a relationship and alliance, it would have to be done now while there was still time, while the weather was still fair.

"I agree," he said, his voice rich like that of milk and honey. "The alliance would prove beneficial for both of our packs. However, I would like to set forth a few terms to make matters clear." He was as straightforward as he could be; even though Fanul sometimes riddled, his sly personality shining through, he was also very blunt. "I seek a peaceful future for Alyxio and its people. I don't want this alliance to cause unnecessary bloodshed for my pack." He did not trust Demetrius, but he also had no intentions of either befriending them or declaring war upon the small band. "I propose these terms: Alyxio will come to the aid of Nix'rio if Demetrius or any other pack strikes the Vargo -- as long as you send a messenger, we will fight for your honor and defense. However, should Nix'rio wish to actively seek a battle with a rival pack, Alyxio's wolves have the option of remaining neutral." Of course, this proposal would run both ways. " The same will apply in the reverse situation. Should Alyxio be caught in a battle upon its own mountain fortress, then Nix'rio is expected to answer a call of aid. But if Alyxio chooses to seek bloodshed of its own accord, Nix'rio will have the option of opting out of the battle."

There was a reason for this. Fanul did not wish to reveal himself as Demetrius' enemy as of yet. It was for that same reason that he agreed to teach the students who were enrolled in the academy classes. "I have been recruited as a mentor for the Demetrius courses -- I wish to understand Athena's thinking, her tactics and what her plans for the future are." He had posed as a spy for Renatio once upon a time, a dangerous mission with his life on both lines. Had he failed Renatio, then he would suffer had their fangs; had Caelius discovered his mission, then he would have died then. The fox was not unfamiliar with the art of being sly and sleuth-like. He would gladly do it again for the sake of Alyxio and his pups.

brain mush, brain mush oh dear...sorry about this post Yahtzee love it appears my mind is to focused on the project I'm working on XD

Azren seemed to fall deep into thought, considering the terms of which Fanul had laid on the table. It took a few moments longer then he would have liked to decide but he didn't think Fanul would fault him for being sure this was what he wanted. The obsidian man smiled and nodded. "Fair enough, I agree to your terms." As they walked it had begun snowing and now, sitting in the heart of the Vargo Azren found himself covered in alabaster fluff, making him appear a black wolf with many little white speckles. Starting to feel the chill he shivered slightly as he rose to his feet.

"What say we take a trip to your lands my friend? I've never been save for a brief trot and wouldn't mind having a look around if of course I'm welcome." He was rather curious about Lemurs, so many wolves he'd known had tried to fight for the lands, to keep it for themselves. He wondered absently, why it was so special and would it prove a good use to the wolves of Nix'rio. The land would not change the king's mind about the alliance but curiosity certainly had the best of him. He'd wait for an answer from the golden man before quietly heading towards the borders, off to seek answers to the questions produced by a wandering mind.

"Also Fanul, I think it's good we have someone on the inside in Demetrius, I have a spy there currently as well. I hope he is well, could you check in on him while you're there next? His name is Heike."
