There is no end to how cold it is getting, and there is only more winter to come! With the cold season comes extremes of ice and snow that can be painfully sharp on the paws in the north, even for the thickest pelts. Snow has been spotted in even the southern region's woodland cliffs and marshes.

(Since Aurora just joined Nix'rio, I though it would be good to get her introduced to the other pack members. Feel free to be nice to her/antagonize her, but expect plenty of sarcasm either way.)

A singular grey form trotted across the Vargo, a scowl on her face. Clenched in Aurora's jaws were a mass of branches. I look like a beaver, she grumped, giving the branches a tug. She sighed as she finally reached her destination. Two rocks, one long and flat and leaning against the other, formed a makeshift den. She tugged the branches over to one end, which was blocked by a mixture of sticks and dry grass. Aurora threaded the branches in, creating a wind barrier. She stepped back to survey her handiwork. Now her den wouldn't be so drafty. She gave a grunt of satisfaction and lay down in front of the rocks, taking the time to clean the dust and sweat off her fur.

As she groomed, she reflected on the events that had lead her here. She had taken a rabbit from Nix'rio grounds, and had been attacked by the Alphas, who had forced her into the pack. She growled quietly. Bastard Azren. She was going to pay him back one day. She paused, looking out over the hills. Under better circumstances, this would have been a nice place. Very pretty. She wondered what the other members of the pack were like. Probably as stuck-up as their Alphas. She wondered what kind of work she would be made to do as a captive. For now, though, she decided to focus on getting an annoying seed pod out of her fur. What kind of seed pod-ouch!-Has burrs like this?! Stupid nature.

OOC.

As she walked on the icy hills, Dimitri brought color to the snowy, winter land. White was such a beautiful color, and her green eyes were watching the sparkling of the crystals rather than where she was going. She could smell where she was, and as long as she was in the vargo, she was fine. Having eaten fish earlier, her legs and underside still a little wet from the swim, but she didn't feel the could in her success, she was not hungry, nor would she need to eat for maybe another day or two. She may always look hungry, with her tiny little waist, but that waist simply showed that she was able to go long without food, as she didn't need as much as the larger wolves.

The cream youth crossed paths with an odd trail, there were wolf prints, but also something that looked like it was being dragged. The scent of the wolf, of course, was Nix-rio, but the female seemed to be in a bad mood, and the girl must be new. Dimitri didn't recognize the scent. Then again, she couldn't be sure if she'd met all of her packmates. The green-eyed girl shook out her fur and began a curious trot, her ears perked forward in slight excitement. She was having a good day, and maybe this grumpy she-wolf ahead of her would be someone interesting, fowl mood or not.

The silver she-wolf came into view in only a moment, she seemed to be doing something rather odd with a bunch of sticks. What a strange girl. "Greetings!" Dimitri called as she trotted over with a grin. She made sure that this girl had her personal space, but padded up and sniffed what looked like a wooden den. "Are you making a den out of this?" She asked, looking at the she-wolf in curiosity. "How clever!" She sat down, feeling a bit puppy-like today. "I'm Dimitri Harvest. You?" She asked.

“She Speaks.” She thinks. She does.

Aurora made a triumphant sound as she managed to extract the burr from her shoulder fur. The approach of another wolf startled her, and her head jolted up, the burr still clasped between her front teeth. She looked down at it, her eyes crossing slightly. She spit the burr out, looking back up at the cream wolf. "What do you want?" she asked as the wolf investigated her den. She was Nix'rio, she could smell it on her. She was somewhat surprised to see such a friendly Nix'rian, though. The cream wolf's eyes interested her, the deep forest green a shade she had never seen before. Even her own eyes had a tinge of yellow to them. "I'm Aurora Celere." she replied, looking at the other wolf mistrustfully.

She wondered what Dimitri was doing here. Surely she had better things to do than bug a captive? Aurora wondered if Dimitri had even learned of her capture. She wondered how much she could badmouth Azren and Nahrus in front of her. She really wanted to let someone know just what she thought, preferably Azren himself, if she could do it without getting teeth in her rear. A humorous term just occured to her. She was itchin' for a b*tchin'. She turned her attention back to Dimitri, wondering what her reply would be.

OOC. Sorry this took so long!

As the light she-wolf pulled a burr from her shoulder, she looked cross-eyed at it for a moment, then spit it back out and attention turned back to Dimitri. Her first words were unfriendly and made Dimitri lift her head in a bit of surprise at the cross question, then spoke of her name. Aurora. Dimitri twirled the name on her silent tongue, she liked the sound of it, but she still noticed the distrust in the silver woman's words. The cream youth wondered why she seemed to hate the girl already, but simply tensed a little at the obvious detest that filled Aurora's eyes.

She raised an eyebrow at the girl. "I want nothing," She said. "Why would I come to a new wolf whom I don't know, just to tell them to do something? Plus, you're obviously busy, I wouldn't tell you to do something else, even if I had the authority." She then paused for a moment, looking at the slightly cloudy sky. The clouds had come in, blocking out some of the sun, but not all of it. It still made the snow sparkle on the ground. The cold was annoying, of course, but she couldn't tell the clouds to go away. Even if she could, she wouldn't, clouds meant life giving rain.

"Aurora sounds like a nice name, please, what were you named after?" She asked, smiling, even around this spiteful she-wolf, she was in a good mood. Her polar bear had joined Nix'rio with her, and she was glad to be so close to him without needed to go anywhere. Dimitri remembered the scolding she had gotten when Azren had somehow learned that she had been on Demetrius lands, yet those lands weren't even claimed yet. His information was not correct, yet she had taken the blame and been accused of near treason. She snorted at the thought, but snapped her attention back to Aurora, realizing she had asked the silver she-wolf a question.

“She Speaks.” She thinks. She does.

Aurora, realizing her scowling had gone a bit overboard, managed to curb her features and turn them into an expression of guarded civility. Still, Dimitri's statement caused a bit of the scowl to come creeping back. "Oh, I don't know. Probably to order me around. See, your pals Azren and Nahrus caught me trespassing. I promised I would leave, but instead, Azren freakin' pins me to the ground and more or less tells me I'll be joining this stupid pack as a captive. So, when I saw you coming I assumed somebody had some chore for me to do." She realized that, during her recounting, her voice had come rather close to shouting. She sat back, exhaling like a steam train.

"I got my name because my mother loved the northern lights. We didn't see them frequently in my birthplace, but they were absolutely gorgeous. Like a river of light across the night sky." She mused over Dimitri's name. It was nice. Bright and sort of rolled off the tongue.

OOC.

The cream girl ignored the scowling, but was beginning to feel unwelcome. Her words seemed to cause anger from the woman in front of her, and she burst out with a rant. The words were full of hatred and agony, her voice raising to near shouting. Dimitri's ears pinned back and she stepped away from the silver she-wolf defensively, but her eyes narrowed at the speech of why she was here. It may have looked as if she were about to tell Aurora off for snapping about Azren, but her mind was not on this. No, not at all. This was unfair.

"He forced You to be here!?" She felt her lip curl as she put an emphasis on the 'forced'. She snorted. One such as herself was a violent kind, but she had morals. She thought for a moment, then glanced back as if expecting the shadow to appear himself. Dimitri turned back to Aurora. "That's not fair. I was taught about freewill, everyone should and does have a choice." She shook her head, looking at the ground. "I am new to Nix'rio myself, and have not hung around much, only recently did I return to these lands again with my mate, to explore and meet my pack." She snorted angrily, then looked up at Aurora again. "I don't know Azren well, but I do know that he is a strict man, sometimes working only with false information..." She trailed off, glancing behind herself again, waiting like he was standing right behind her.

She smiled a bit. "My name is nothing too special, it was my grandmother's name, but I know little about her." Dimitri looked at the silver woman, but her mind was on rippling colors in the sky. She's never seen them, but she'd heard of what Aurora spoke of. She sniffed the air curiously, allowing herself to memorize Aurora's scent, even though she would have probably already done so by now. Aurora was leaving soon. The cream girl knew this, one held captive runs eventually, and Aurora seemed very strong willed to her. It would be a shame if they met again and didn't recognize each other. Why do I care about recognizing her again, if she leaves? Her ear twitched at the thought.

“She Speaks.” She thinks. She does.

Aurora had to admit, the reaction wasn't what she had expected. Not every Nix'rian was a stuck-up butthole? She winced as she realized her ranting may have insulted Dimitri. "Sorry for shouting there, it's just...frustrating to be stuck here. I'm been wandering for a little over a year now, I kind of got used to going where I wanted and doing my own thing." She left out the loneliness she had felt sometimes as a solitary wolf, the hungry days where she could catch nothing, the cold stormy nights where she shivered alone. She shook her pelt, as if to clear her mind. "So, Dimitri. How's life here? Is he that much of a taskmaster, or does he keep to himself? And what's the deal with Nahrus? I've never heard her speak a word."

Aurora seemed to wince and Dimitri wondered if she had said something. It wouldn't really matter to her too much though, she was angered by her leader's actions. He would take them back someday. She was sure of it. She listened as Aurora apologized and then gave out excuses. "Don't be sorry, I can take being shouted at. There's nothing wrong with letting out frustration." She said, knowing all too well what it's like to hold in frustration, and that it is far better to have something to let it out with. Dimitri wasn't much for apologies, anyway, they really did mean little to her. What's done is done, the past is the past. Don't wander in the past, it makes you insane, so she didn't.

Dimitri paused to think through her words. "Azren usually keeps to himself, unless there are reasons. As for Nahrus, she is mute. I have not heard her make a sound more than a growl," She grinned at the memory. "But she doesn't even do that much. It could be cause by anything, maybe she was born mute, maybe it came after not speaking. I was told that can happen sometimes." Of course, when she was alone, she didn't talk very much, and never lost her voice. Maybe her mother was just messing with her about it, come to think...

"Thanks." said Aurora with an apologetic smile. "To be honest, it made me feel a bit better to yell at someone." She filed the bit of information away, that Azren typically kept to himself. Aurora blinked as she remembered something, then dropped her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "You know, I met the Demetrius leader, Athena, a while ago. I think she may be organizing a raid of sorts on Nix'rio that would also double as a rescue party for me. If you're interested in splitting from Azren, I bet you could come along." She really didn't know why she was telling Dimitri this, she had just met her. For all her kindness she could have been sent by Azren to gauge pack loyalty. Maybe she was spilling her traitorous thoughts to a spy.

She discarded the idea as being silly. Dimitri was a nice wolf that had a problem with Azren, same as her. Aurora flicked her tail as she waited for Dimitri's reply.

Dimitri smiled at Aurora's thanks and comment. It was a good thing to know when it is time to let frustrations out. It was better to know how. She watched the silver she-wolf blink with interest and listened closely to the whisper. She eyes widened a bit in surprise, then she blinked in confusion. Was Aurora playing jokes? Dimitri was irritated with Alzren, but she disliked Athena. Athena must have sent someone to tell Azren of her presence in the mountains, or maybe came herself. That didn't matter as much, though, what about Heike? She looked away from Aurora for a moment. He had come to Nix'rio just for her, and he promised great loyalty. If she even mentioned this to him, he would tell Azren.

Finally, she looked back to Aurora saddly. "I'm sorry, Aurora, but I cannot go with you. I won't tell a soul, though." She said, then looked away again. "I have too much here right now," She looked up and smiled a bit. "Go on ahead, I will do my best to do minimal damage to the Demetrius wolves." She tried to make it reasonable to Aurora, though she felt like this silver she-wolf would become upset.

Aurora's expression was replaced by one of disappointment, but she knew Dimitri had stronger ties to the wolves in this pack than she did. She was reasonably sure she was rather attached to that big white wolf Heike, that was probably the cause for her refusal to come along. "I understand." she said, mustering a weak smile. "Thank you for not telling Azren. He'd string me up for the coyotes if he knew I was in cahoots with Athena." She chuckled. "And if I meet Athena again, I'm sure she'll be glad to know that you won't be fighting too hard. I appreciate you helping me to escape, even if it's indirectly."

(No rudeness implied here, but this thread seems to be wrapping up. Rather nicely, I might add. Should our characters make their exits now?)

OOC. No rudeness seems implied to me! ^^ It has come along rather well, huh? :D lol, if Azren finds out 'bout this after the raid, Dimitri's dead. xD I'll follow your lead, can't think of a way to exit right now...

Seeing the disappointment on her new friend's face saddened Dimitri a bit, She would have surely come if the circumstances were not completely against her. For one, Athena would never welcome Dimitri into Demetrius, and the cream girl wasn't very interested in sharing territory with the old woman. Two, of course, was Heike, and the loyalty that her blood pressed onto her. She had not been forced to join this pack, she had been voluntarily put into the ranks, and she did not blame Aurora for wanting to leave. Just the thought of someone trying to hold her captive made Dimitri want bite something.

Dimitri smiled sadly. Soon she would have to say goodbye to this wolf, or maybe she wouldn't get a chance to. "I wouldn't let him if he tried, anyway." The girl grinned mischievously. She paused to listen to Aurora's next sentence. "Ah, good luck with that, she hates my guts, did I tell you? I'll have to tell you about it sometime." She remembered the time she had met the old hag, that woman was trying to seduce two young males, one of them being Heike. Though they hadn't been anything to each other yet, she still found it amusing that the old hag thought she'd be lucky enough. Hythyr wasn't even old enough! She suppressed a snort at the memories. What an odd wolf, Athena was. She had also shown up for the healing class... which Dimitri, to this day, could not possibly for the life of her know how she got talked into teaching for Demetrius.

“She Speaks.” She thinks. She does.

Aurora chuckled. "That'll be a story." She looked up as a cold wind suddenly ghosted over the hills, freezing her muzzle. The sun was going down, and from the clouds she could see it promised to be a cold night. "Well, we probably go our separate ways now, before it gets dark out. Tonight'll be a chilly one." She looked back at Dimitri with a smile. "Thanks for stopping to talk, it really helped my mood. I guess I'll see you some other time?" She stretched, padding into her new den. She ducked to avoid the low entrance, then began to circle, getting ready to sleep. Her windbreak did it's work, keeping the den from becoming drafty.

Dimitri grinned at Aurora's comment. A chilled wind pressed itself along the hills, making the youth shiver. She was probably right, this night would be a chilly one. She would stay awake tonight and snuggle with Heike when he returned for sleep. It would be nice, and he was always so warm. It would be saddening if she didn't get to ever spend time with him. "It was my pleasure." Dimitri smiled. And you can come find me whenever you like if you want to talk again." Then she paused. "Oh, and, I rather enjoy the southern regions sometimes." She said with a wink. This message was intended for after Aurora was to escape with Demetrius.

"Sleep well, Aurora!" Dimitri called as the silver she-wolf disappeared into her den. The youth was sure that she would get many chances to speak with Aurora in the future, even get to know her a bit more. She seemed to like the woman, though the cream girl wasn't able to determine exactly why as she turned to trot away. Her thoughts went to the idea of snuggling close to Heike tonight, and his warm fur brightened her eyes. As usual, he was not there as it was only beginning to grow dark, but as she laid down, she allowed her head to rest on her paws to wait. It was too bad that, unbeknownst to her, Heike had left the territory only this morning, on his trek to the Carpathian Mountains.
