Year SixSeason: Winter Month: December Breeding / Birthing: Year Round There is no end to how cold it is getting, and there is only more winter to come! With the cold season comes extremes of ice and snow that can be painfully sharp on the paws in the north, even for the thickest pelts. Snow has been spotted in even the southern region's woodland cliffs and marshes.

They would come. Fanul was not sure why he had agreed to reveal some of his secrets, but he was one of the better wolves for this job. Really, he was no teacher, no instructor, for he was far too content in his mysteries to allow others to breach his skills. However, he was curious to see what sorts of wolves he could draw to plateau, wondering what sort of beast would wish to learn from him. Who thought that the fiery rogue was a worthy professor? Who sought to draw him out from his shell and unravel the secrets from his very lips?
Sating this curiosity was too great of an opportunity. Fanul thought as he scaled the cliffs with relative ease, his paws grasping firmly upon the earth beneath his pads. This place was dangerous, and if the wolves hoped to learn from him, they would have to prove themselves worthy and make it to the plateau first. And when he finally stood atop the fortress, he unleashed a ground-shaking howl that echoed across the lands, summoning fellow wolves who wished to learn his skills.
And then he waited, this rogue lord of a wolf whose eyes reflected youth and intensity but revealed nothing else to those he was about to encounter. Even the Gods failed to understand Fanul, his fox-like charm elusive to all that sought to understand him.

Hythyr climbed up the plateau. It was quite the treacherous climb but Hythyr wanted more than anything to become a stronger and more skilled warrior. He heard a clear howl as he stepped up the earthy, red rocks. He made his pilgrimage to gain wisdom in the way of the warrior. The journey was exhausting but Hythyr eventually made it to the flat top. He found Fanul waiting at the top. Hythyr approached his leader, and now teacher, with the utmost respect. He took a bow and spoke. "Greeting Fanul, I have come to gain some of your wisdom that I may become a better warrior." Hythyr was pleased to find his pack's Alpha here. Hythyr greatly looked up to Fanul, as he had been shown a great kindness from this man. He would do anything to fulfill his promise to repay him a thousand times over.

Solaris walked up the plateau, the climb did not seem to bother her as much as it would a normal wolf, but then again with all the traveling she did before she found her new home perhaps it was understandable either that or she was trying not to show what ever other wolves up on the plateau weakness by seeming exhausted by climbing the plateau, wanting to show whoever was training the fighting she was worthy of whatever knowledge they could give in the art of fighting and to her it seemed a good decision on the teachers part to take the lessons to the Plateau, a good way to make sure only those who were really serious about learning the art of fighting would come to the to learn.
Once she was near the top of the plateau she placed her paws on top of the plateau before using them to pull herself up to the plateau and spotted the three wolves all ready there, the brown one and the white one to her seemed like they, like her where here to learn while the brown wolf with red hue seemed like he was a leader and therefore most likely the teacher.
She walked over to the stranger and bowed her head in respect, “hello stranger, I am Solaris of the Demetrius band, I am here to train in the art of fighting” she said, her voice clear

First to arrive was Alyxio's very own Champion, a young wolf with a proud gaze in his pine-top eyes. He had potential, and yet his skills were unpolished, untamed, and he relied upon sheer strength and power to devise his victories. Fanul dipped his head in greeting to Hythyr, a wry fox-grin upon his face, emotions locked within his own heart, unreachable to the outside world. "Well met, Hythyr." The rogue lord found it amusing that the younger wolf would call his knowledge a "wisdom," for it was more experiential and intuitive than anything, but he let that slide. No use in arguing over terminology.
Next came another wolf dressed in a blanket of white, another lad as reckless as thunder over the lands. Fanul saw a seething tide wash over him at the sight of Hythyr. They had obviously met before, either in potent rivalry or on negative grounds. The fox ignored this, only allowing his molten eyes fall upon the newcomer in neither approval nor disapproval. For the pride that reeked upon the white wolf's body, he would learn soon enough, humbled by what he did not already know. "Have a seat, Heike," Fanul said, his voice as calm as the ocean after a raging storm.
And third, arrived a female, white and grey with eyes much like Fanul's, although they lacked his curious gaze. "Then you are in the right place," he replied to her statement. It was time to begin. Fanul rose from his sitting position, his posture lax but still determined, tail held at a medium height. He looked at these three before him, wasting no time at all; he had a plan in mind that he had devised when he first arrived. He had taken the time to survey this area, and he was ready. "Follow me," Fanul announced, turning swiftly toward the edge of the plateau, slipping from the top of this edifice on his way to the bottom. Pebbles and sand tumbled from where his paws made contact with the ground.
He made sure that the three pupils were following him as he continued down the steep slope, avoiding potential dangers such as pitfalls and spiky plants. With a flick of his ears, Fanul sensed their approach and he awaited them at the foot of the descent.

Hythyr's ear twitched as he heard someone shout "YOU!" and turned around to see... was that Heike? "Well if it isn't my sparring partner! How's it going buddy?" As angry as Heike seemed to be with him, Hythyr bore no ill will towards the artic wolf. In fact, he was quite thankful for what he had learned about himself when he had sparred Heike. Before Hythyr could say anything else a newcomer arrived. A female with white and gray fur. She introduced herself as Solarius of the Demetrius band. A member of the academy eh? Hythyr had never seen this wolf before, but he had meet the Demtrius academy leader, Athena, and Hythyr garnished a certain respect for the tailless lady. She may have seemed grumpy to others but Hythyr had had a glimpse of her kinder side. Fanul said to follow him and follow Hythyr did. He tried to follow Fanul down the side of the plateu but Fanul soon pulled ahead. The going was a little slower for Hythyr as he did not yet have the grace of his alpha, but he managed. He walked up to Fanul and vaguely wondered what the fox-like man was up to, but shrugged it off as Hythyr trusted Fanul and so just went along with it.

Much like the land she now called home, this ascend was enough to send the unfit one fleeing from the scene. Strong, yet not buff, muscles worked simultaneously, to dance across the carmine, chalky earth that was based upon her toes. The song of the man she now called a leader rang across the sky with a clear message, one that spoke of skills and teachings, of lessons to be learned and taught, today the world called Torva would be combated with a new set of skilled warriors, worthy or not, they would flock. Those that wished for high power or even a chance at defense, the scared, the vain, they’d come. So why, did the tiny, lithe figure that moved so agile need to take such measures, what encouraged her trek up the plateau for the training? It was the need for knowledge, it was the yearning to know all and become one of all knowledge. She craved the call, and as it reached her pleasant awareness, and what speed she moved with before tripled in effort.
The climb was not yet so steep as to wind her, as most would, but yet she still grit her teeth and pushed forward. Unfortunately, her advances were interrupted by the sight of her two pack mates she had come across before along with two others sliding down with ease and careful feet. A raise of the eyebrows was the only efforts she made to question their advance before she spun around and followed them down, her birch painted feet moving effortlessly along the ground, and her glowing macaw coat glistening beneath the sun. She made an advance on the group, silently moving with their movements, there was no need for words here, what good would it do anyways?
She knew she was at a disadvantage against all the creatures that stood before her as equals, even the other female stood at heights and weight larger than herself. So what would be to her advantage? The speed in which she moved, and the way she planned those movements. Running, walking, it was all carefully calculated for her, she knew where her feet would be three seconds ahead, yet it was so easy and unconscious now she barely had to process the thoughts. Years of practice really did make perfect. Her size would also come to an advantage, and although Saint had always believed in the peace of Mother Nature and keeping the unbalance of violence out, some defensive strategies were in order if she was to survive this new world. So she followed, silently, and ready.
ooc. Sorry for the shittyness of this, I have a wicked cold and mah brain doesn’t wanna work.

Solaris followed the three males down the slope, keeping an eye on where she put her paws, to make sure she didn`t accidently step on a stone and end up taking a tumble down the slope, and possibly end up taking the males with her in her fall, she didn`t want to make a bad impression on their teacher.
She listened as the white male spoke and could not help but voice her own thoughts on the subject, she had a theory as to why the fighting lessons where held here, “I believe that by holding the lesson of fighting in a somewhat difficult to maneuver in terrain, our teacher can see who of us are really serious about learning the art of fighting, only those truly serious about it would be willing to make the climb to the plateau and then down this slope, while once who are not would have most likely turned around either when seeing the climb or would have made the climb but turned around when we had to go down this slope” she said, her voice kind as she looked at the white male, “off course I could be wrong, but that’s my theory at least” she added, casting a glance at their teacher, to watch for a reaction, to her words

Perhaps his wily antics left his fellow pupils a little bewildered, confused and befuddled as to why he would be leading them off the very plateau that they had so painstakingly climbed. The answer was simple -- they needed to build up endurance, stamina, the will to push through pain and exhaustion. A warrior needed to outlast his opponent in a battle, for it was often difficult to gauge how strong someone was until the fight began, and at that point it was too late to back out. So the only surefire solution was to outlast the enemy -- the wolf who had the most endurance in the end, regardless of strength and speed, if he could land the final, lethal blow, then victory was his.
Fanul said nothing in response to their queries, deciding that an element of surprise something worth keeping secret. Once he reached the bottom of the slope, he bolted to the side, swiftly and suddenly, the movement enough to catch many unwary students off guard. The fox had broken out into a sprint, flying like reckless thunder through the wind. He was a golden blur of earthy reds and oranges, fleeing agilely upon his thick paws. With the intention of leading them around the plateau, he spurred ahead, his lungs opening for that life-preserving oxygen.
Wolves were known for their superior endurance to other animal species, so it might take a while for these students to wear down, but tire them out he would, and he would do it with them. Fanul did not bother looking behind; if they could not handle the intensity of this training, then they had every right and option to leave this course, but they would learn nothing of his secrets. They would have to preservere and hope for the best. Fanul would run them until they sputtered for breath, until they vomitted, until their bodies shook with utter exhaustion -- the longer, the better, and then the real lesson would begin. "Catch me if you can..." he mentally taunted, knowing fully well that his musings were only audible to himself.
This exercise would weed out the unworthy and gather to him the strong of heart. Not only was fighting taxing on the body, but it was also hard on the mind and spirit.

ooc;-
The golden brown leader didn't say anything, but just bolted to the side and ran like the devil were on his heels. Heike glanced back at the others before letting out a irritated huff. He didn't know how much he liked this silly behavior. ”This was not what I had in mind when I signed up for this thing.” He growled, to low to be heard proper. He dashed after the golden blur. Heike knew he weren't to endurable at top speed, but he could go on forever if he went just a little slower then his top speed.
After a while of running, Heike saw the light. This, this stupid running, or rather, not so stupid running had intentions. Endurance, it was an endurance test, to just see who were the endurable one and who were not. At least it looked like it. Endurance is good to have in battle, in many situations it could mean the difference between winning and loosing. But following the golden blur, dashing forward a little ahead of him, around the big plateau was a little silly. Did he want to be caught? Heike wondered if he were gonna turn and meet him on the way. He shook his head and huffed, wouldn't look very enduring to be standing, waiting to greet him. Instead Heike pushed into top speed, trying to push him self forward for longer then his limit. After a while he slowed down to his normal running pase, panting, tongue hanging out as a long tie. Lucky his normal running pase were effortless from his life as a loner, Heike knew he were endurant. The question was how endurant were the other students, and the teacher him self. Heike frowned, this is teaching?

The brown leader gave no response to Solaris`s theory before he dashed off to the side, once they reached the bottom and with a dawn of realization, that their teacher was testing them, she too broke into run after the blur, and similar to Heike, she too kept herself from going into her top speed, knowing from both her experience as a loner and as part of a pack, that using too much energy, to fast would no doubt come back and bite you in rear later, a thing she had learned the hard way, when she was younger and a mistake she only made, once and never since.
She was able to keep up with the white male, Heike she believed he had introduced himself as, when the lesson had begun, but unlike him she did not go into top speed when the male did, just shook her head as she witnessed him run and slow down to a normal pace once more.
When he had slowed down, she managed to catch up to him once more, “word of advice, if you enter your top speed to early, your going to exhaust yourself to early on, it will come back to bite you in the rear later, take it from me, I tried it, its far better to stay in your normal speed until you target is exhausted and then, unleash your top speed, this will all so serve as an element of surprise, if the target thinks your nomal running pace is as fast as you can go” she offered the advice, kindly

Fanul dashed off as soon as he reached the bottom. Hythyr was confused for a moment and then figured that his alpha was simply conditioning his students before showing them anything he knew. Hythyr ran just behind Solaris as they chased after the fox king and the white wolf. When they caught up to Heike, Solaris offered him some advice. As soon as she finished Hythyr spoke up. "So how are things between you and Dimitri buddy? Did you follow my advice?" Hythyr chuckled a bit. He remembered how Heike reacted when Dimitri offered to help him with his leg wound. There was no doubt in Hythyr's mind that those two would end up together. He was happy for his new found friend and wished him and Dimitri the best. Hythyr focused heavily on his breathing just like his mother taught him. Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. Hythyr would run as long as his leader would and would not stop until he did.

The sharp change in direction had Saint gritting her teeth to keep back a sigh of exhaustion, despite being built for speed and agility, Saint was not one of long distance and her size had her moving much quicker than those of the rest of the participants in an attempt to keep at pace. Still, she pushed forward with no complaint and her brow feathered in concentration, she was not ready to be thrown into the mix as the weak or the small, instead, she would be seen as the strong in her weakness. With this determination, the burning in her lungs lessoned and the quivering of her muscles, aching and begging for the female to drop to the ground was ignored, her movements still of grace and that of a dance.
She stuck close behind the males in front of her, idly moving along with out-stretched legs, and head dipped close to the earth to allow impulsion to push her forward. Respect for the man she called her leader seeped through the female as she watched her push through his efforts himself, such ease flowing from her body and she concentrated her gaze upon his fleeing body. This concentration held the female’s mind, had her entrapped to the movements rather than the complaints that so desperately wished to surface into her conscious and have her quit the efforts now.
After a good while of the movements and a tightening of her muscles, she grew bored with the task at hand. She understood the idea of the exercise, limits were something to be pushed, and although she had figured by now that exhaustion would be gripping at her body, she was empowered by the energy the physical activity had allowed. With a grin, she pushed off her hind legs in a burst of speed, bounding in front of the two male creatures that had been moving so easily in front of her, a wink flashing upon her eyes in an almost challenge, before she fixated upon her target once more. As her body moved in agile, calculated movements, she was upon the Alpha’s side at but a moment and a grin broke out upon her face as she moved her entire weight into playfully shoving him to the side, and she prepared herself for the weight to move away from her as to not fall in the case of success, or his retaliation to her non-violent attack.

Paws one in front of the other, beating the ground with swift clicks of his nails and thuds of his pads, he carried himself upon the wind, flying freely, liberty at his heels. Long lopes through the fields and forests was something that he was accustomed to, and he figured that all warriors should be able to travel for hours without tiring. However, this full-out sprint might have been a bit more taxing to some -- eventually, exhaustion would wear everyone out, including the Alyxio leader. He took large strides, allowing his body to expand outward and make most of the length of his legs; his lungs begged for air, and he obliged with deep breaths through his nostrils, exhaling through his mouth.
They had almost reached their starting point, a vast course, for the plateau was no small land-form. He sensed their weary feet, the stressed breath upon their lips and their desire for an explanation. As Fanul was about to make a sharp turn, the new female, Saint, came toward him with a playful shove. A small fox smile curved upon his blackened lips, and he said as he continued running, "So you want to play?" At that moment, he leaped toward his left, ascending the rocky slope back upward to the plateau.
This was a part of their training. After a tiring run, one's muscles would be sore, the burn deep within the core, and climbing such a slope would be grueling effort. Fanul showed no weakness, taking great bounds up to the plateau. This hike would take quite a while, and he had scouted the quickest way up earlier during the day. He used this to his advantage, leaving a thick trail of dust at his heels. The fox would wait for the trainees at the top, where the official fighting lesson would begin. Hopefully, this exercise did not have them burned out quite yet. "Pair up," he said.
