Sacred Offering Event: Feb 18 - March 18Thanks to Trinket for this event idea!As the sun and moon move closer in the sky, rumors have been whispered that it's nearly time for the two to collide! Predictions rumble through the land that it will be the end of the world, and the sky will burst into flame, scattering it's celestial fabric onto the earth. At noon approaches, the stage is set for the total eclipse. And at night, a patch of asteroids flies by, lighting up the sky with shooting stars. It's widely believed that this is the time to pray for the next year. The gods are waiting to see if their creatures will be faithful with their tributes. The largest monolith stands out from the others, tall and wide, it tries to touch the sky with its mass. The ground is dry around it, but around the other monoliths, crystalline water forms placid puddles. It is rare for a monolith to have no water around it. With all these events, the stage is set, and it is believed this sacrifice is more important than ever. All kinds of creatures have begun to gather here: rabbits, a few moose, deer, squirrels, voles, birds... All of them keeping a wary eye out for hungry mouths that might wish to eat them. What to do!A total solar eclipse is approaching, the largest monolith is dry, and a meteor shower is set for the first hours of dark. It's time to bring sacrifices to "pray" for a bountiful new year. If your character doesn't believe in such things, it is still quite an event, and they might enjoy the celestial events. Forgot your offering? There is plenty of prey here to catch. Please no WIP or claiming posts, no post order. Points!Participation: +5 pts Early Bird Bonus: +5 pts (replying before the 18th) Arrival Bonus: +5, 4, 3, 2, 1pt respectively for arriving 1st - 5th Exit Bonus: Same post for entrance & exit is +2pts, separate exit post is +3pts Your points = participation + early bird + arrival bonus + exit bonus Special Post Table : Optional (Gift)If you'd like to use a special post table for the event, feel free! It's 100% purely optional, basically the equivalent of a job recruiter giving you a free pen (those pens usually aren't very good -__-).

(Are we allowed to post now?) Aurora trotted across the fields towards the ancient stone structures, somewhat clumsy from the burden she carried. As she passed them, a feeling of reverence pervaded her. She examined the stones, sniffing one of the rough rocks. Whoever had built these, they had built them to last. The news what that you had to bring a sacrifice, supposedly to keep the sun and moon from colliding. Well, she certainly wasn't about to bring prey. She had a strict set of morals when it came to killing, and if it wouldn't be eaten, she didn't kill it. Still, she had figured it would be bad form to show up with no gift. Clenched hard in her jaws was a handsome rack of antlers, part of the skull still attached. She hadn't killed the deer, she had found the bones picked clean. It had only taken a bit of gnawing to get the antlers off. She set down her offering and worked her jaw, wincing slightly. Aurora sat, listening to the wind whistling through the ancient stones. Everything was hushed and quiet. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed movement, a rabbit hopping closer to the stones. It froze when it saw her. She blinked slowly, her body posture relaxed, letting the rabbit know she was not hunting. Assured, the rabbit made it's way to a patch of grass where it could watch the eclipse in safety. Aurora looked about. Perhaps she could meet some of the packs in Torva this way.

Dreams had drug her away from her quiet safety. Lured her into an opening where she could not get out, awakened in the panic the female had flounced around. The spirits were restless, and no matter how much the female pushed away the filthy past she had, the reverent spirits needed her for something. So the female had tossed and turned and debated. Her mind had almost tipped, and the pain lingered in her chest, tight and hot like a burning sensation. She nearly worried that she was taking a mental collapse, perhaps she finally had snapped. The female felt like a heat on her neck lingered fiercely, to snap her mind into cue. Eventually, the female had ran. Pulled down her chase and instinct called her away.
It worried her, the niggling feeling as the very earth seemed to be shifting more actively. Ears swiveled as dirty looking coat shook lightly, but her prancing steps were a near panic. Was this a sign? Had the choices she made been incorrect? Orange red eyes pulled along the sky, and she shuddered with the thick foreshadowing that washed over her. By the time the energy seemed to propel her forward to the place where it had started, she quietly drug along the hare that had crossed her path. It had been limping, but it had headed in the same path as her. It had startled her, when the creature had turned to look at her, dark eyes expectant. The female had snapped it up, done little damage, but she had felt the ease of the kill had been a sign. Something was happening; if the prey was moving in the same call as the predator, then it meant the world had something in the quiet. The Mother called her creations forth.
Drawing herself into the land, her heartbeat finally slowed after traveling in a near shocked state. Her toes almost felt numb, like the blood no longer reached them. She was sure it was nonsense, she had always felt too in tune with the earthen grounds. It bothered her, unbearably, due to the fact that she had promised herself she would remain prepared for whatever would come. That she would prevent this nonsense. What kind of creature went loopy with the changing of the earth? The female tossed her head as she memorized what she had always told herself, but in the end her body called, was summoned - just as the alpha could summon her home, but eyes slipped to the skies and she sighed. I should have found something a little bigger. But the hare had selected her to carry him where he never would have made on his own, and she had thanked him for the honour, and even while she entered all that laced her nose was the scent and the sounds of the others that lingered around.
Silence beckoned her as eyes slipped toward the monoliths, and her heart clenched. Oh dear - no wonder she had been summoned. If she had known about this place before, the female shuddered, the slick sense of coming home clicked with her mind. Eyes drifted, hare swinging against her chest as the female’s eyes tipped toward the other female that had appeared to have been summoned as well. Eyes flickered wildly with intense fascination, her breath hitched as she moved slowly into the lands deeper. While she acknowledged the beautiful female with a sway of her tail, friendly and at ease while her mind seemed to race, eyes turned back to the structures before her and claws slipped into the sweet, alive earth that accompanied the nearly dead silence.
"Speech."

Aurora turned her head as footsteps announced the arrival of a second wolf, another female. Her posture was friendly, tail wagging. Aurora replied with a tail wag of her own, tail thumping the ground. This was neutral ground. She noticed the offering of a hare swinging from her jaws, and but declined to say something. She had her code, they had theirs. Who was she to say what was right and wrong? Besides, the wolf looked stressed enough. Her steps were unsure, even a bit frantic, and there was a nervous look on her face.
Certainly understandable. Something was happening. The great wheel of life had reached it's pinnacle, ready to swing down into a new year. Animals were gathering around the ring of stones, eyes turned to the sky. She even saw a few predators, some bearing offerings. Her eyes glinted slightly at a pair of coyotes, and they stared back, with that somewhat annoying look coyotes were so good at. Aurora looked back up at the sky, watching. Waiting.

H a r r i e t The blue hour, the wheel of taker and giver, but bringer has came first here. The wheel of the blue. No spots of light in the magical sequence has been seeped trough. Tree twigs crushing and scattering around as wind blows, even if the animals are aware of the canines. It was magical hour, something is gonna happen, soon for sure.
The wind blew much harder than before, ruffled Harriet's coat. She took a step and followed her instincts of curiosity, where it does lead her into? The dried leaves, victims of everyone to be crushed, Harriet is the case, as she accidentally stepped on a small dried leaf, it was on her way. Rushing hour, something special. The sun and shadow together. To merge into something. Such events in Harriet's life never happened before.
As she breathed deep into the upcoming drum roll. So many animals, from prey to predators. She turned her head to look at her surroundings, good thing she had her 'sacrifice.' It was a baby deer meat, still good, it felt like she could eat it any time soon, but she'd rather hold it up now, better pray comes with time than that.
The voices of wind, those weeping trees, both dancing to the wind. The spirits really did feel in her spine, a little creepy, and somewhat eerie. Te sky looked were different too from usual, the clouds looked like some ancients symbols to her, maybe it's her imagination, it also looked like they were moving faster, much faster than usual, but then still going slower and then fasten up again. The presence of other wolves also were felt here too, it didn't matter or her about much, enemies or friends; her eyes only were bid tot he sky, with a golden glisten to them.

The female eventually found a spot where the hare’s body seemed to get heavier, and she ceased her steps immediately. Eyes turned behind her, ears swiveled as she realized others beckoned forth. As she paused, the faint moment caught her eye, sunset gaze jerked the the little creature that scurried around on the ground, bus she ignored it as she laid the small Lapin on the ground and offered a comforting look to the creature. “As you so desired fair one, thank you once more.” Words pushed through her lips, silent prayer slipping into the air for the well guidance and the sacrifice the hare had chosen to make. Then as she finally lifted her head, ears swiveled and she glanced beyond her, the tempered smile nearly appeared as she steeled in the antsy feel of her own nerves. Looking like a lunatic would not suit her purpose at all.
Yet her eyes graced over her pack mate with brown eyes turned to the sky, and she left the female to her assumptions and thoughts. While her body felt on fire, the female struggled to focus herself. The call was like a hum, and she swore it cried out to her with preparation. Her body at ease, the hare tucked against her paws as she turned her head to the female she had originally acknowledged. So many women, the sane part of her moaned, the one that felt hungry for comfort when none ever appeared. Still, she forced herself to speak, “Good day to you, lovely one.” Honey lathered tones greeted easily, eyes twinkled with better mischief as she refrained from turning back to the stones. Why had they not called her here before? Had they known she would have resisted? Would they have burned her with the sickening dreams and hallucinations?
“What is your name, darling?” She prompted with a curious voice, sunset eyes prodded the female, looking at the silver creation which she ached to go over to. The grounds kept her there though, and instead she waited for the female, then her eyes turned to the dry, giant creation in her direct line of gaze, and continued her eyes upward until the flare of the sun welcomed in her long view, then she glanced away back to the ground. “What has summoned you here, do you feel the pull or have you heard reason to come, silver beauty?”

(Are you talking to Aurora or Harriet? I'll edit this with a reply after I know.) (Edit: Nvm, reread your post.) Aurora greeted the second wolf to come with a nod, before looking back at the first, who was speaking to her. Lovely one, hm? The wolf's way of speaking seemed just the littlest bit flirtatious. Not that she was repulsed. She had met wolves who preferred their own gender. She had nothing against that. She had always been more attracted to males herself, but to be honest she wasn't 100% sure of her alignment. She flicked her tail with pleasure at the silver beauty comment. She took pride in her fur. "My name is Aurora." she said. "And it's sort of a mixture between the two. I've noticed birds flying towards these stones, and I've heard talk from a raven, but there has been a pull, almost. I felt compelled to come here." She quieted as a moose neared the stones. He was old, but his antlers were held proudly and he carried himself with dignity. He folded his creaking knees and sank to the ground with a sigh, looking over at the wolves before turning his attention to the sky. "A lot of animals have come here." said Aurora quietly. "This will certainly be something to remember." ( Mood music, anyone?)

The cosmos was moving. Space never stood at a stand still, that much Neptune knew, but this was notably different. A brilliant event would soon be taking place; he could feel it in his bones, in the very core of his soul. Born and raised to be in tune with nature and all of its beautiful complexities, Neptune felt invigorated by the subtle changes in the Earth. Something wonderful would indeed grace the presence of those on Earth soon, and the large male had every intention of bringing a wonderful offering to greet it with.
Stormy blue-grey eyes were alight as if struck by a flame as he briskly padded to the sacred ground toward the outskirts of the land. Powerful jaws clamped upon the body of a multi-colored bird; hopefully the spirits of the sky would be pleased by its striking colors. And judging by the howls that rang through the area, he would not be the only one to witness the event, and perhaps even some of the others would bring offerings too.
Sure enough, a small congregation of wolves all arrived - interestingly enough, they were all women. Eyes danced over each in turn as he placed his bird on the ground near one of the monoliths. Tail swayed with ease as his haunting gaze turned back to the women. "A wonderful day, when Mother Earth shows her glory. Do you feel it too?" he asked, his voice a low murmur. Surely the women had to be here for the same reason he was, right? Perhaps they were kindred spirits whose mistress was the planet as well. Oh, how nice it would be to meet others with the same interests as he!

“Aurora - ah, what a beautiful name. Have you ever viewed your namesake, pretty one?” Approving voice purred as she tipped her head to the side. Her own thoughts scouted her memories - she had been welcomed to see the Auroras of the North before; yet she assumed the South ones would be forever from her grasp. Nonetheless, the beautiful dancing across the sky that embraced the earth forever caused her pleasure. It was a beautiful sight.
“I daresay I feel...” Guilty, The female nearly spat the word out. But she was not the spiritual one she figured the Mother tried to make her. To be far, the female was sensuous in her belief, and she was not at all ashamed. She loved the mother and the guidance that pushed her to the forefront, but then her head tipped her muzzle to the side, and her tongue curved over her fangs faintly, then she steeled herself for the better explanation. “That we are quite blessed to feel the pull, those who are close minded will not... and they will misunderstand the reason for the following that comes.”
Eyes slipped towards the elegant beasts of prey that seemed to arrive. Eyes darted here and there, and once again she looked down towards her hare. Although she assumed it would mistaken - as if she had purposely gone out of her way to make a kill. For the most part, she desired very little to kill the rabbit. It was unnecessary. It had known and she had known, the rabbit desired to be present with the proceeding. It had offered itself, she believed, so as she tucked her paws under the flesh again, before she turned her sunset gaze back to the female and bobbed her head in agreement. What was going to happen was most assuredly going to be a bright even, something for one’s memory to cling onto. “Rest assured, it will likely bond us all who arrive together on some level. A memorable event remains forever imprinted on our souls, lovely one, and weaved a string from one to the next who had been welcomed to share together...”
Words faded off as a new scent wafted into her nose, and with a warm expression to the female with her, Aurora, DeCaff’s tunes were gently as she spoke once more. “You may call me DeCaff by the way, beauty.” But then her head turned, and eyes fell on the creature that had provoked her senses. Eyes took in the sensual looking masculine creature that had appeared, and the delighted sigh rolled from the female as pleasure clicked quietly into place. Especially as he passed, and her eyes lingered on the rippling wolf muscle from survival, and the fluffy coat that he sported. By the time he turned back around, her gaze snapped up to meet the face of the handsome creature who joined them.
“Welcome, come sit with us if you so desire.” She invited readily enough, her tail swished behind her faintly. Her head nodded firmly, eyes sparkling, “Indeed - I was woken from my slumber shortly as the new day begun...” The amusement graced her tones, though the sincerity wrung true in her voice. She could never lie when she dealt with the dealings of the Mother. “She called me from the North, and I came... If only I had known this place before...” She faded off thoughtfully, the last words more for herself as her sunset gaze slipped over the monoliths, realizing quietly that this would be a place she visited often, would find shelter in. Well, wasn’t that disturbing, already settling in, she was.

Aurora smiled slightly at the wolf. "Only once, in Alaska." Her eyes became slightly dreamy. "It was amazing, like a river of light in the sky. There are wolves up there who believe it is the gathering of spirits awaiting rebirth." She tilted her head somewhat when she paused in the middle of a sentence, then seemed to change what she was about to say. Odd. She wondered what words had almost come from her mouth, that she would cut them off before they escaped. She nodded in response. She had never really subscribed to the existence of divine beings, but there was certainly a...presence...here. Perhaps it was the number of animals around, all waiting for the same thing. "I know I'll remember this for as long as I live." Aurora said, stretching out her rear legs as she lay.
She nodded welcome as another wolf, this time a large male, walked up to the stones. Aurora blinked in amusement as DeCaff more or less flirted with him as well. She came to the conclusion that she simply had a playful personality. It wasn't really annoying. It was refreshing, to tell the truth, to find such a light-hearted wolf. She rolled the name around, thinking about it. DeCaff. It was a nice name, regal but playful at the same time.

 ELK CALF (named Hermes)
"Mama, whys we here's? Isn't dese da amnimals dat eats us alls ups?", Hermes voice was a whispered breath into his mother's ear. She was usually quite good with answering all of his questions, even though he knew he asked a lot of them lately. But this time, she only gave him a rough lick to his temple and beckoned him to 'sssh', whatever that meant.
"Mama, you're cwazy. Dis not safes. Dey gonna eats you all ups mama. I thoughts you loves me. Why you bring me heres to dies?", he insisted, trying to reach to the same ear and tug it down with his teeth. When he at last managed to grab the leathery surface that was nearly as big as his entire head, his mother's expression was one of stern exasperation. At last she answered, her hurried words complicated with large adjectives in incomplete sentences that lacked nearly all nouns and verbs. Ever since he had gotten to know her more than her teats, he had noticed that she tended to speak this way when she didn't really want to answer.
As much as Hermes wanted to run away from the bright sky and gathering predators, curiosity ruled his veins. These other creatures that would normally seek to hurt him spoke a different language. Strange words to his nieve ears. And the nighttime canvas itself, as if overflowing with so many bright lights that it had no choice but to spill them out of the cold darkness. His eyes scanned over the face and expressions of his caretaker once more. She seemed more interested in the sky than her own saftey.
Just wait until he told his dad about this. Surely he would not be happy. If only he knew who his father actually was. That prostitute. Tattle-tale thoughts were wisked away by the colors of the universe. A few moments later, he too, found himself entranced. The flowers that his mother had brought lay beside them, nestled peacefully between the family of two, their petals dulled in comparison to the activities above.

Brutus swung his massive head around to regard the nervous elk fawn. Their languages were closely related, and he had managed to pick up some elk in his lifetime. He couldn't speak it perfectly, but he hoped he could get the message across. "Don't worry. The Monoliths are special place, this is special time." He looked up at the sky again. "The great life wheel has reached it's pinnacle, and it will be go back down today. We are lucky, not many experience this." His once-great voice, made hoarse by age, became even quieter. "I had worried I would not."

Her journey had led her a long way. She had seen a great many of things, experienced the unexpected, but she had yet to see something like this. This was a strange place, where there were even stranger happenings to see. When she had come to this land, it had looked like so many others she had crossed, but for the last few hours things seemed to change. The air seemed to hum in excitement and nature was holding its breath. Whatever for?
She observed them, the creatures of this land. Some were predators like she was one herself, others where those that could be found on her menu. Her eyes followed some roe deer. Those weird creatures that led her here, but instead of talking flight after seeing her, they simply continued to watch her wearily. Did they sense that she wasn’t interested in hunting right now? Probably. It wasn’t as if she made any attempt to hide herself and right now, she simply sat next to dead tree.
The brown female tipped her head to one side in curiosity and her ears were dancing merrily on top of her head. The wind held so many secrets, but it couldn’t hide what was happening. Nature prepared itself for one of its stranger events and she had decided that it was worth it to stay. Well, seeing as this land’s prey seemed to be moving here right now, this decision only made sense in her mind. This wolf was no believer. She never prayed and couldn’t understand how others could believe that nature could be coaxed to be less harsh by bringing some foolish sacrifice to places like this. Brown eyes swept over large monoliths that towered over them and she couldn't help to appreciate their unmoved strength. How old they were? Her eyes glistered in amusement as she scolded herself. She shouldn’t allow herself such musings. This inanity must be contagious, because she normally didn’t stop to wonder about the age of stones. But then again she couldn't be that badly affected as she hadn’t brought some small prey to waste as an offering. She had seen other wolves do that, but she had kept her distance. It was safer that way. If she stayed away no one could be offended and she would continue her journey later on without having to worry about some scratch or bite mark. She wasn't in the mood to defend herself against a small pack that didn't like her being here.

As she quietly awaited her responses, hungry eyes began to better observe what was welcomed around her. while the scent of the rabbit remained suffering in her nose, no hunger appeared toward it. Afterward, scavengers and the like would simply take the kill away. The skies and their spirits would lead those who would need it to the rabbit, and he would be fulfilled in being the quiet sacrificed that had always been craved. Nose twitched as she forced herself to focus, forced eyes to come back to the present as her head turned and watched the larger prey. With sympathy, she wondered why it never seemed to be under normal circumstances such happened. The young’s nerves could be felt from miles away, the sharp teeth that DeCaff her self possessed were quieted in a dull trance.
"My heart soars with the will of being called," Thoughtfully the words bubbled out to her, more to herself than anything else. While her gaze turned, and she offered fond warmth to Aurora, she forced her gaze to turn away to the sight another wolf, her heart yearned. So many ladies, again, she was beginning to think that was all that littered this land. What a tedium that was, the thoughts that she would remain not welcomed into the embrace of more than just feminine domains. "Where do you stay when you are not here, Aurora?" Absent words questioned, just in hopes of keeping attention trained.
The pretty brown female that appeared though remained off to the side, not stepping up to come greet. No matter, DeCaff mused thoughtfully as she licked her lips faintly and sighed deeply. Although, names would have been lovely. As scent after scent filled her nose, her head warmed and beckoned forward. This place held such an allure, yet she mused that it was almost too far away. Coming here would have to be for cleansing, for the deeper needs and not one out of pure boredom. As her head tipped to the side, thoughts raced along and she steeled herself with the reminder. Someone might try and claim this place - then what would she do? Shaking her head, the female braced herself readily enough for what would happen on such circumstances.
Finally, her words called out to the pretty creature that hung a ways away, "Miss? If you’re not opposed to the company, I would love to know your name." Always the social butterfly, was she not? The amused expression came over her features, though she needed the information. Just for her own state of mind, to connect scent to features and to name.

One of the women greeted him immediately, welcoming him to sit with them. Another nodded at him, which he returned in an easy motion. The large, dark wolf closed the distance with a calculated ease, haunting eyes taking in each in turn. The words DeCaff spoke were most curious. She took referred to the Earth as the Mother, as a female, which sparked his interest immediately. Gaze bored onto her, seeking information. "Her call is irresistible. I am a wanderer, a nomad, but I follow her wherever she takes me." A swish of his tail. "I am Neptune. Might I know your name, Madam?" He would want to remember her for certain.
Another female entered on the horizon, though keeping her distance. DeCaff invited her to join the rest of them, and a slow, slinky smile found its way to his face. "Mother Earth welcomes all," he whispers, a invitation for Nyota to come closer if she desired. Like-minded wolves were always welcomed in his book, filling him with a sense of contentment and satisfaction. Yes, today would be a memorable day.
"Neptune speaks."
