I don't usually like to post news, but given how much of us use AIM, I thought it might be important to give a heads up.

Last week, AOL laid off AIM employees, everyone except support staff. Experts everywhere theorize that this is the beginning of the end for AIM. AOL hasn't made any announcements to that effect, but be warned, the end could be near.

What should you do? Begin to migrate you friends to another messenger service like Skype or MSNM ahead of time. AOL may or may not be nice enough to give a formal warning before they pull the plug on AIM completely.

I like gchat. I use it all the time. Super reliable, and it keeps records of everything for you.

Windows Live, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Steam messenger, Facebook chat, Mibbit, Gmail, Deviantart chat, Tinychat, Livestream, etc. If anything, a lot of people I've talked to renounced using AIM actually, though I still run my account through Digsby (multi mnessenger).

I mainly use skype as well. AIM have never really been popular in Norway, only to the "cool teens" that think they are americans..
