Year SixSeason: Winter Month: December Breeding / Birthing: Year Round There is no end to how cold it is getting, and there is only more winter to come! With the cold season comes extremes of ice and snow that can be painfully sharp on the paws in the north, even for the thickest pelts. Snow has been spotted in even the southern region's woodland cliffs and marshes.

A silver moon hung high in the sky as the female darted across the landscape with an awkward gait. Her pelt shone with the same brilliance as the moon, and if it hadn't been for the fresh injury that caused her to move on three limbs, her form would have dissapeared as quickly as it arrived.
The wolf stopped, pink tounge falling from her jaw as she panted. Travelling this way over the miles of frozen ground had quickly worn out the animal. Months ago, before this harsh winter, Sawni had been fit and muscular. Now her pelt was becoming dull and her limbs were wasting away. Already her ribs were prominent. It was the price she paid for living life without a pack. A lone wolf has much more trouble hunting.
Hunting was exactly what had caused Sawni's injury. In a moment of unbearable hunger, she had attempted to take down prey much too large for her. The prey lashed out with its sharp hooves and the force of the well-conected blow had made it impossible to walk on her rear left leg.
Knowing she was unable to travel farther tonight, Sawni dug a hole in the snow as best she could. Lowering inside, she slept in the insulated shelter that kept the biting wind from her hide.

"Oh baby, can't you see, that I am a rainbow?"
The winter had, indeed, been hard, but its claws had not raked Jalista as hard as it had others. She still walked with a spring in her step, and her strides carried her across the ground swiftly. It was still hard packed snow in this part of the valley, with green peaking through in some places. It was a sight for sore eyes, the ground peaking through, and her narrow muzzle turned and tipped toward every piece of dirt she passed. Her muddy yellow eyes lingered on their bold colors, stark against the snow. She wasn't paying attention, that was for certain, so when the warm wind carried the scent of another wolf to her, she halted. Her nose went up as she tested the wind. There was another wolf nearby! Her ears perked forward as she searched the broken landscape, ripped through with the slithering river. If she strained her eyes, she could see indentations in a straight line across the river that lay before her. Jalista had always been one to seek out company, and didn't hesitate in setting her course for the supposed-prints. The smell was stronger from that direction too. Splash! Her brown and white body plunged into the river with one immense splash, her tail trailing out behind her like a rat's as she began to swim. Her paws sliced the water with almost expert strength, and she pulled up onto the other bank with admirable swiftness. She ran across the open snow straight toward the she-wolf's scent and stopped near a lump in the snow. "Hello!"It wasn't phrased like a question, but was partially meant as one. She could smell blood now, and it worried her. She slowed until she was walking tentatively forward, head low and equal with her shoulders. Her ears were shoved forward hard, and her nose worked. There was a she-wolf in that pile of snow, and she must be hurt. The smell of blood was a painful sourness, and she sneezed. Torva free table code.
