Year SixSeason: Winter Month: December Breeding / Birthing: Year Round There is no end to how cold it is getting, and there is only more winter to come! With the cold season comes extremes of ice and snow that can be painfully sharp on the paws in the north, even for the thickest pelts. Snow has been spotted in even the southern region's woodland cliffs and marshes.

so what if you can see the other side of me .............................................................................................
Thanks to Hythyr and Athena, the brute was well on his way. Whether or not they had decided to follow him farther west, away from the roaring of the rancid beach, was up to them. Cypress Harrow never looked back. His mission was to gather as much knowledge about the lands and the inhabiting packs as he possibly could before concocting his final plan. In his head, he saw sparks... fire! A thousand howling voices screaming his name. Blood, painting the ground; sacrifices offered up to his greatness. A wicked, vile smile twisted upward onto his dark lips, eyes glassed over with visions of glory and revenge.
But now was not a time to make a mistake. He must be patient, vigilant, and intelligent. Becoming king, becoming emperor of Torva... it was a careful game of chess. And chess was never won without strategy.
He had been following the alluring pack scent for the past kilometer, trusting his well trained nose to lead him in the right direction. Powerful limbs propelled his broad body forward, his recently cleaned pelt glimmering in the dim winter sun. Soon enough, he reached the potent marker... the smell recklessly sprayed on trees and rocks and bushes that littered the landscape. So this was it: this was the first pack he would investigate. And he would be a perfect gentleman; cool, inquisitive, genuine. Perhaps he would make a few allies here.
The large brute sat his rump in the cold, decayed grass. His minty eyes stared forward, glancing through the brambles and trees, searching for movement... searching for shadows. All he had to do now was be patient and wait. Like a viper hiding in the undergrowth.

(Evil wolf, meet annoying, cynical Aurora :D)
A grey she-wolf trotted across the plains with a deer's leg in her jaws. She had found the carcass a distance away, surrounded by ravens and foxes. It had probably died of hunger, she could tell by how skinny it had been. Still, an easy meal was an easy meal and she would need to be strong for the coming winter. Up on the Vargo, there wasn't much shelter and she would need to be in prime condition. She stopped as she caught the scent of another wolf. Not a Nix'rio wolf, either. Something was off about this one's smell. She didn't like it, but she figured she might as well warn him about Azren.
Continuing to lug the deer leg, she eventually caught sight of the stranger wolf. She dropped the leg and sized him up. Muscular, brown fur, and odd green eyes. Aurora barked to draw his attention, then loped towards him until she was closer. "Greetings, traveler. This territory belongs to Nix'rio pack, and I can tell you right now they don't take kindly to intruders. I think it'd be best for you to move on."

so what if you can see the other side of me .............................................................................................
It was not long before his patience was rewarded. In the distance he saw her approach; silver, lean, with peculiar scars dabbling across her muzzle. Her soft green eyes seemed vacant, despite the prize she dragged behind her. Why hadn't she stopped to eat it where she had found it? Perhaps it was a gift for family, friends .. or for the pack. She seemed to notice him from afar, alerting him of her presence with a single, shrill bark. The man stood, lifting his hulking frame upward onto all four legs as the smaller female finally dropped the hunk of meet and came to greet him.
The smell of blood and decaying flesh masked her pack scent, so he could only assume that she made her residence here. "Greetings, traveler. This territory belongs to Nix'rio pack, and I can tell you right now they don't take kindly to intruders. I think it'd be best for you to move on." Cypress did not move, he merely blinking his minty eyes at the subtle threat. "Greetings," he returned, waving his tail idly behind him as he processed the information he had been given. Nix'rio. Unkind. "I'm not here to cause trouble... My name is Cypress. I'm but a wanderer seeking information about the packs of Torva." He smiled slightly. "Are you part of Nix'rio?" The name felt foreign on his tongue, causing him to briefly wonder of the cultural origins of this group.
It was evident by his body language and lack of fear that he was not about to heed her warning. He was not done here... not yet.

A howl was thrown to the heavens as the young wolf ran. His thickening neck craned to stretch his already tall frame higher, and his maw lifted toward the heavens. The call began softly and grew haunting, but was cut short. Howling was something that Aku had developed a distaste for; the way he figured it, if somebody needed him, they’d surely find him one way or another. However, this sure fact of his was to be doubted at times, like the present. For the unknown scent was menacing, and so was the way the intruder simply lingered and waited to be discovered.
Aku followed the trail of Aurora, who was evidently carrying something that held a very appeasing aroma to it. Now and again the boy licked at his gaping jowls, and his tongue lolled as he ran with great haste. Even if this wolf was welcomed by the King or Queen, Aku could not help but investigate why the captive sought the presence of a new wolf; especially if she carried something she could easily share with the young Prince, rather than parade her own welcoming party to the beast.
The man’s voice curled the boy’s tail above his backside, and he felt his fur bristle on end. Perhaps, to an unfamiliar face, the boy would surely pass for a yearling, but beneath his puffed coat, was a lanky pup. Still, Aku felt in his bones that he could still pass himself off as a representative of the Alphas.. Or so he thought. His pace slowed to a march, but he kept his steely blue gaze on the brute, only glance to Aurora to offer an inquisitive stare. ”You have stumbled upon us, evidently due to your misfortune,” the boy began, and his deepening tones surprised even himself. Although the man was large, Aku stood his ground with an unwavering expression of fearlessness, almost challenging the man. ”My King would not take kindly to a trespasser. And unless you want to join Aurora over here,” he tossed his muzzle toward the female, with a slight grin upon his maw, ”Who cannot wander passed the piss line, I’d advise you wander elsewhere, to gather your.. Information.” Perhaps the boy was mistaking his maturity for darkness, leading his imagination into a new story world, but the bitter bile that sat in the back of his mouth was simply due to territorial instincts that kicked alive within his body.

Aurora's lip curled in distaste as Aku pranced up, already full of himself. Who did he think he was? The king of Spain? However, it was infinitely more hilarious (and annoying) because he wasn't even a year old.
She blinked as another wolf approached, then chuckled audibly as he berated Aku. Now this was a likeable wolf. (Cypress gave her the willies.) Aurora casually flopped her tail over Aku's muzzle, shutting him up. "You'll have to excuse the royal brat, gentlemen." she said, a smirk barely held in check. "Azren and his father haven't taught him politeness yet. Or the right ways to run a pack and greet strangers." She looked at the newcomer. "My name's Aurora. As Aku has already said, the pack here is extremely hostile towards loners. And while I'm fine with answering any questions you have," She shot a pointed look at Cypress. "You wouldn't want to hang around too long. I certainly won't tell anyone, but if the Alphas or Beta catch you here you could be in trouble." Me even more so for "consorting" with loners.
She looked back at Aku. "And as for 'wandering past the piss line', talk to me like that again and I'll knock you on your fluffy little butt. You may be the Beta's heir but I am still your elder and you do not speak to me like that."

Between discussing alliances and tending to other matters, Azren had found himself busier then normal but it wasn't all that bad. In fact it made him feel like there was something to do, like he was truly running the pack he'd always wanted to run and no one would stand in his way but unfortunately for him, his return home from a casual stroll would lead him into turmoil at the borders as the scent of four wolves made his nostrils flair. Two Nix'rio, two loners. A soft growl escaped his lips as he propelled himself towards their location. Only a fool would leave this investigated.
What he caught was the end of Aurora's sentence and as he approached, a deep rumbling growl echoed in his ears, confirming his annoyance. "He is the heir of the pack, not the beta." He spat as he sat beside Aku, his stone cold gaze boring into Aurora for a moment before turning to the two lone males. "Trespassing comes at a high cost gentlemen, as does disrespect to the members of my pack." His next words were meant for the woman who sought nothing more then to cause him problems. "As for you miss Aurora, have you found a den yet? There are plenty of them to choose from and I suggest that you go choose. NOW!" He growled, lips curling back to show he meant business.
he would no longer allow her to continue bad-mouthing him and nor would he allow the two males to intrude on his lands. "As for the two of you, if you have no business with Nix'rio it is best that you leave now. This will be your last and final warning. As to Aurora, I'm sure she's told you that she is a captive here. Perhaps she should have also told you she not only trespassed on my land but hunted on it as well. Taking food from the mouths of my pack, especially the young ones is not acceptable in any form." He didn't enjoy having to explain himself to strangers but what must be done, must be done.

Aurora stepped back, ears flattening, but she held her ground. "I already found one." she said, still watching Azren cautiously. "Those two boulders that lean against eachother, just west of here." She tossed her head in the direction of the deer leg, which was being ogled by a pair of ravens. "In fact, I was bringing that to my den to cache. But if it's all the same to you, I'd like to stay and see how this turns out." She took another step away from Azren, looking over at the two males, silently imploring them to leave. A quiet growl escaped as Azren recounted her story. "In my defense," she muttered. "I started chasing that rabbit outside the borders. Fat fleabag." She shifted, looking up at the sun, which had begun it's downward arc.

The approach of another wolf lifted the young wolf’s lip in a show of toothy threat, and he growled softly. The young prince stood tall; in two moons time, he would reach a year old. It was his father’s blood, no doubt, that graced him with his height, but it was his adolescent metabolism to blame that he was not heavier. However, there was an evident trace of muscle, but definitely not enough to aid in fending off two grown males and a captive, even if one of the males was puny. The boy sneered at the man who dared to address him. ”Stupid?” The entirety of his speech was a waste of breath, for the young, dark-coated beast only turned his head in curiosity and surprise. Such a big mouth for such a tiny man.
Aurora’s words silenced the boy for the whole of her speech, and laughter of genuine amusement left his maw. It was safe to assume that from the very beginning of her meaningless life, that Aurora was unintelligent and a poor decision maker. After all, whether it was her lack of attention or sheer stupidity, she ended up here, in the position she was. A captive. A far more pathetic title than omega.
And, yet again, she spoke, but this time she addressed him. ”Tch, elder? You are nothing.” he emphasised on the word, and smiled spitefully. ”I come and go as I please. As for you--,” his retort was silenced with the approach of the King, and he simply glared at Aurora. With the presence of the ebony beast, Aku allowed his tail to descend from its position above his backside, and followed his lead by sitting down.
The whole of the man’s statement was heeded, and a glimmer of pride shone in the boys eyes. This was his King. As hard as he tried, once Azren finished speaking, and Aurora spoke, Aku held his tongue. How dare she defy his direct orders? His distaste for the scarred female grew with each mistake she made, but he could not help but pity her. Whatever she was served for her disobedience, she brought it upon herself; would she ever learn?
