Year SixSeason: Winter Month: December Breeding / Birthing: Year Round There is no end to how cold it is getting, and there is only more winter to come! With the cold season comes extremes of ice and snow that can be painfully sharp on the paws in the north, even for the thickest pelts. Snow has been spotted in even the southern region's woodland cliffs and marshes.

Like a devil in disguise storms had wreaked havoc on the lands, turning them into what looked more like a swamp then the beautiful place it once had been. It hadn't ended either, not completely. Now the storms were replaced with a light slushy drizzle and it was all starting to turn into ice. Due to this, the marsh was rather slushy as well. To a traveler it wasn't a pleasant sight to see. It proved that nature could be a harsh thing, it had even went as far as to tear families apart and from what he'd seen so far, not even a pack could be found in this place not that he cared much about such things. After all, if he were to be a part of something, it would be his something.
With each quick step he took, he shook his paws free of the ice that clung to them. Here, land was scarce but he managed to keep himself out of the deeper waters and thankfully away from the quicksand. It'd been a few days since he'd found the hare back in the grasslands, leaving him rather hungry and irritable. His azure gaze swept over the terrain and he sighed softly. There was nothing, nothing and no one. Stepping into a deep slushy puddle he shivered slightly. He had to have been out of his mind to come here. What was he expecting to find?
Letting out an annoyed huff he trudged on a very unhappy fellow at the moment.

Was it hours ago that she had eaten that bloated bull carcass? Perhaps it had gone too long. Much like the bull, her belly was now engorged with nearly more than her skin and ribcage could handle. Her eyelids strained to allow her to peek out into the world without extending too much effort.
Her entire body felt achey, heavy, as if her soul had been transplanted into a container entirely too small, this body somehow felt as if it was not hers at all. Perhaps it had been yesterday that she had eaten that bull? Was it longer? She couldn't remember, and the effort to try and calculate time's passing only served to make her head throb.
She remembered she had eaten her fill, along with other opportunists. She remembered walking, growing tired, and laying down for a nap. Her paw moved to scratch an itch, the movement sluggish, and hindered? She peered down at herself for a few moments. She was on her side. In the mud. What was she doing here?
The sound of something coming faintly rang in her ears. "Ugnh. Don't feel good...", she grumbled, struggling to rise to her belly for a moment, hoping that her next move would be to try to stand. But she couldn't will up the energy to even roll so that she could see whatever was happening. She gave up and let her body fall back into the mud, creating a slopping sound in the process.

"This is what I have to say." My thoughts, a cynical masterpiece.
Frustration, fatigue and hunger threatened to devour the ebony figure. It would be a lie to say that he hadn't felt at least a little overwhelmed by his current state of mind. Sadly, he had a feeling things would only get worse, after all he was already slender and should he continue going without food then he would start to lose muscle tone. If that started happening then he would be in a bad position. 'Eat another wolf if you have to.' He responded to the bitter voice with a soft snort. It was a possibility but so far he'd only ran into females and it was just about breeding season. He'd not harm them but if he came upon a weak male then perhaps he'd indulge himself in some cannibalism.
Perhaps even a healthy male if they were stupid enough to cross him. His thoughts however were abruptly interrupted by the soft voice of another, paired with the soft squishy sound of something falling into the mud. His ears perked forward, towards the sound and his eyes followed them, spotting the mud-covered girl. This was all he needed, a sickly female to attend to? Again he wondered why he'd come out here. Despite his aggravation the ebony male trudged on, quickening his pace slightly.
When he finally reached her, Azren lowered his head, gently nosing her in the side. "Are you alright?" He inquired. 'Of course she isn't alright you moron.' He wanted to shout at the voice to butt out of it but he knew it would only startle and frighten someone who didn't know him or his condition. He couldn't help but wonder why anyone would be out here laying in the mud and of course he wondered exactly what was wrong with the stranger. Could he help her? Perhaps, but then, perhaps not. Especially since now that the rains had wiped out nearly everything, it would prove hard for him to be able to find any type of herb or such.

OOC: You'll have to forgive me, I find threads like "Hi", "Hi", "So what do we do now?" "Dunno, see you." rather boring , so I always try to pack mine with adventure!
The darkness was closing in on her. Through squinted eyes, she could see the inky substance grow closer and closer. And then, and then... it touched her.
"I'm not ready to die!", she screamed aloud, at the sensation of cold to her belly. The shrill note in her voice was one she hadn't ever hit before; having surprised herself, her skin jolted across her bones. Two horses have a purpose, and when set to plow, they plow three times as much as a single horse. Driven, her body instinctively rolled over this time, and her legs wasted no time performing bambi's first ice skating lesson. Struggling to stand in an awkward manner, she had almost risen to full height when her legs collapsed beneath her. The murky water and sticky dirt splashed the parameter.
But before a moment had passed, she was trying again, and this time, successfully. "We have to...", came a mono-toned voice strained with exertion. "Have to eat it all.", she finished, after gasping for breath, in the same intonation-devoid sounds.
She began a coughing fit, from which a large glob of black stuff was regurgitated. She didn't bother to eat it, but began a near mechanical, awkward lanky walk towards the carcass, already rotted two days ago. Her footsteps were shaky and her body swayed like a young sapling in heavy wind. "Have to eat it all."
One side of her body was a combination of very dry and very wet matted fur that protruded from every which angle like a porcupine. The other, a smoky grey, as if having rolled around in ashes, though also unkempt, and splattered with her previous bedding fit only for pigs.

"This is what I have to say." My thoughts, a cynical masterpiece.
'What the fuck?' Judas' dark voice range in his ears and burnt like acid. It took him a moment to understand just what was happening. He'd heard the girls scream but he had been rather confused at first. 'Has the lady went mad?' "She's sick Judas." Although it was a whisper, his voice held an irritated edge. When she started up he managed a look of alarm and attempted to help her but it was to late. She was down again in a matter of seconds. Now it seemed as if she wasn't concerned with him anymore but something else. Clearly she was delusional at this point.
He had to do something and quick it would seem or she might hurt herself. When she again spoke he looked over his shoulder at the carcass. It smelled rancid. Looking back to her, he now understood. She needed to get all of that rotten meat out of her system. Then she stood, stumbling towards the rotting mass of deadly meat. This wasn't good, not good at all. The stranger thought he was death, the reaper Azriel and she also assumed she needed to eat all the death there was to offer. Oh the irony. Quickly he lunged in between her and the carcass, offering a soft snarl, lips curled and hackles raised.
"If you're not ready to die yet, then step back." His voice came a little more bitter then he'd intended but he hoped that the ashen female would get the hint. After all she'd just vomited rotting meat and now she wanted to eat more of it. That would do her no good, so if threatening her made her come to her senses it would be all the better in the end and besides, he enjoyed being vile and hateful most of the time. He never did enjoy being the nice guy but in this case he'd be both the nice guy and the asshole. Lovely.

Wow! Haven't had this much fun for a while!
Each step was slow and meticulous, each limb feeling as heavy as a giants. In fact, each paw pressed to the ground seemed to make the earth shake, toss, and turn, like the waves of the sea. If she was still, the waves might overtake her and she would drown. But the effort to go faster wouldn't come and her pace stayed the same though the urgency increased. If she stood still, the ground would eat her, and she would die. She had to finish eating the carcass. None of it could go to waste. It was what nature ordered, because she was a wolf.
There was a large blur of movement, a sickly, sticky, itchy dark streak against her peripheral that came to rest. In her vision, it never did stop moving, but it did slow down, perhaps like a bat flapping its wings to stay still. It was the color of the night, an oozing shadow that now stood in her path.
Startled, she stopped, but the ground didn't stop moving. It would swallow her whole! She wanted to move, but like in a dream, she found she simply couldn't, but was immersed in doing something else against her will. A coughing fit took over her, wracking her whole body in a shake. With each cough came a more intense stomach lunge until at last she was heaving, helplessly. It was hard enough to hold herself standing, much less prevent the vomiting that overpowered her. The same kind of sticky blackness that flowed and moved like unruly shadows splattered on the ground.
She began to gasp for breath, and with reddening eyes, looked up at last only to view the devil himself. She began to laugh, she couldn't help it. Her pupils suddenly grew much smaller as an expression of surprise overtook her face, unprepared for more outpouring of disgusting stuff from her insides. Was she coughing up her own organs? Fight overtook her, and her feet tried to backpedal, but collapsed from under her, rendering her in a sitting position.
"Have you seen...", she began to question between heavy breaths, unable to contain small spews of more content from her stomach between words. Blurry images of all of her foes flashed in her mind, of her own child, she had a child, didn't she? But she couldn't remember their names, much less make out the faces in her memories. "Is...", she tried again, only to be over taken by a dry heave. The names wouldn't come.
"I must eat to live!", she roared in the frustration of it all, her body mud covered and now splattered with her vomit. "You won't keep me from life! You'll have to take me kicking and screaming!". Eat to live, what was what Nature ordered! She would fight off this devil, this death, this demon, like in every other nightmare. She was convinced she couldn't die, and that she would wake up soon no matter the outcome.
The ground had slowly begun to calm itself, the blurry outlines gradually coming closer together, but Athena hadn't noticed. Death was still in front of her and she would defeat it. She snarled, bearing stomach-acid stained fangs, peppered with grainy bits of disgusting vile.
She lunged forwards, taking air with her teeth and front claws, hoping to dig into whatever was there.
Attacks
- Jumping towards with teeth and front paws outstretched
Defenses
- none
Injuries
- vomiting
- nausea
- delusional (wearing off)
- physical weakness

"This is what I have to say." My thoughts, a cynical masterpiece.
Like tendrils of smoke from a fire, Irony drifted through the air. The stranger had been poisoned by that which would normally keep her alive and now she lurched towards him with a drunken sway that suggested she'd had a little to much. Looking at the bulge in her stomach he could almost guarantee that she'd eaten more then a little to much of the rotting death that lay behind him. He'd thought more then once of leaving her to her delusions and letting her feast until he died but it that didn't seem fair. He'd only spoil the good meat by doing so. She was good meat, if she died now perhaps, without eating more of the rancid carcass but if she ate anymore she too would begin rotting.
The thought made him chuckle softly, the dark venomous laughter of a snake about to strike. She amused him and this situation amused him. He couldn't help but ask himself, could he kill her? If he couldn't help her then yes he believed he could kill her if only to end her suffering. Sick and in pain was no way to live and a slow death was no way to go or so he imagined. With narrowed eyes he stared at her, releasing another deep warning snarl. It was in that moment that the she devil began coughing. The coughing followed by more vomiting and plenty more black muck.
After that she struggled to catch her breath and she'd began asking him a question but she never did finish it. Instead, the ashen stranger started screaming at him. He took a step towards her and growled a bit louder. "You fool! If you eat you will surely die!" He spat with a frustrated snort. She was beginning to irritate the normally cold bastard. It wasn't often he went out of his way to save another. He'd be damned if his time was wasted. He'd get something out of this meeting if it was nothing but a good meal.
Admittedly he hadn't been prepared for her attack but she was slow and he was able to jump out of the way quickly enough that she only managed to grab his tail, ripping tearing it up quick a bit before it was pulled free from the momentum of his landing. His eyes narrowed on her and he grumbled softly. "Stupid wench." He whispered with another snort. It only took another minute before he retaliated, propelling himself forward and lunging at her from the side. His intention was to knock her over then grab her by the throat, pinning her there until she could calm herself. Hopefully his plan worked. If not? Well then he couldn't be held accountable for his actions.
Attacks
- Lunged toward the side to knock her down.
- Attempt to bite and pin her to the ground.
Defenses
- Ears pinned.
Injuries
- Wounds to the tail, tip broken and torn half off from the force of his movements pared with her jaws gripping it.

You fool! If you eat you will surely die!, the words echoed in her ears, the syllables splitting and elongating, every possible pronunciation of the phrase seeming to twist and dribble into something else, but still somehow she was able to understand. And as soon as she did, her voice erupted into a wheezing, raspy laughter, that of a mad man cackling over some evil deed. Periodically stopping to sputter off a splat of internal contents or dripping saliva, she continued laughing for an absurdly long time, before finally letting in on the secret joke. "Are we in the garden of Eden, serpent?", she retorted, and then howled with a new batch of laughter, as if the joke had gotten even funnier.
But moments later found her brain engaged in combat, her teeth going for the kill, her claws sharp enough to slice through even the most difficult membranes. When she thought she had not hit anything at all, she felt fur and bones in her mouth, effectively injuring a small portion of tail in much the same manner as one would clumsily curl ribbon with a pair of scissors.
In return, her body was slammed into by a moving force, knocking off her balance and throwing her a foot away. Her sides stung with fresh gore marks meeting wind from the teeth and claws involved. She came to a skidding stop, thanks to more mud, which made a delicious splotching sound as her momentum finally subsided. Winded, she realized she was not on her feet anymore, but was instead in the very same condition she was before.
Gazing down with all the thinking, her focus slowly came together enough to reveal a small patch of grass. Without thinking, instincts kicked in and she began to scarf it down. The movements were awkward, not having the proper set of teeth to tear up the vegetation and crunch it to a more manageable pulpy substance.
Slowly, shaky legs pulled her out of the mud to stand once more. Finding the weight of it all oppressive, she hunkered down and shook, spraying her garment of earth and vile in every direction. It seemed to have some effect, her body felt more limber. But nausea disapproved and she upchucked once more, until the feeling that there couldn't possibly be anything else inside of her skin lurked like an itchy feeling in her thoughts. Am I dead?, she couldn't help but wonder.
"Battle!", she roared, her gears stuck in the mode of war. There was nothing here to be won or fought over, but the fact remained that a fight had started, and Athena's persona would not allow her to stop now.
Like a bull, she tucked her head to protect her neck and charged towards the man, hoping to cut him up as one would dice a steak.
Attacks
- Charging with claws outstretched
Defenses
- tucked neck
Injuries
- vomiting (done)
- nausea (subsiding)
- delusional (wearing off)
- physical weakness
- gore & gashes on her side
- heavy bruising to side

"This is what I have to say." My thoughts, a cynical masterpiece.
But in the garden of Eden it was the serpent who asked them to eat, not told them to stop. That was true or so Azren had heard the story told that way in the past. A dark chuckle drifted into the air as he watched her. "You've got that backwards princess." Her laughter amused him, if she kept going like she was she would simply fall over and pass out from a lack of oxygen. Then who'd be laughing? The ebony figure thought her stupid for lack of a better word and he would for now, simply stare at her blankly.
However it wasn't long before they were engaged in combat. She'd been able to tear up his tail pretty good and while it seared with pain he didn't seem phased. He had barreled into the girl and knocked her down, managing to tear her up a bit but then she was eating grass. Would it help her? He certainly hoped so, this was going way to far. He'd only been trying to help her and look where it was getting him. Nowhere.
His eyes narrowed on the delusional woman as she rose to her feet. Would she stand down? His question was soon answered with cries of battle and a charging bull ready to go in for the kill. A soft growl rumbled from him, the large boy jumping out of the way just before she was able to hit him. He whirled around in an instant and charged the female, attempting to bite down on her muzzle. He would stop this and it would stop now. At least if he had anything to say about it.
Attacks
- Lunged toward the front, teeth bared in attempts to bite her muzzle.
Defenses
- Ears pinned.
Injuries
- Wounds to the tail, tip broken and torn half off from the force of his movements pared with her jaws gripping it.

The air was thick in her nose, laden with exertion, determination, and the pure delight of battle. It was the breath of air she had been searching for. Perhaps it wasn't Pandora she had been looking for all this time but merely herself... and with the delight that rattled her aging bones and coursed adrenaline and dopamine to her brain, she had surely found it. Screw love. Screw peace. And screw that girl. Who cared, anyways. ... right? Her mind melted into confusion again, but she didn't have time to think about it much.
The comment startled her, unsure of what to do, and disliking of the feeling of being wrong. Or was she right? She wasn't sure of much of anything right now.
She was running towards her opponent, her teeth so ready to take a bite of that delicious looking nightmare. But, all in an instant, she felt a hard pressure on her muzzle. Was it a kiss? Before her was not the swooning darkness but instead an empty landscape. And all in that instant, she felt herself falling, her precious footing lost, and her body put into physics' discretion, force and gravity all competing for what would actually happen next.
The ground showed her, by force. She felt herself collide with earth, her shoulder digging in for a better taste of it, as if longing to return to its origins of dust and debris.
The words of Nova floated into her mind. There was too much energy. She had to be quieter, quietly, softer... her eyelids snapped shut with exertion and time seemed to slip away. The next thirty seconds were crucial ones, busy shutting down processes and then restarting them, searching for the master boot record and scanning for input devices.
Her eyes fluttered open, taking in all they could with haste. "Who puked.", she wrinkled her nose in disgust as she spoke to herself, unaware of the man's presence.

"This is what I have to say." My thoughts, a cynical masterpiece.
The taste of crimson graced his tongue as took her by the muzzle. It was a brief action, a last minute attempt to wake the ashen woman from her crazed slumber. That was the way he thought of it anyhow. A frenzied sleep that had driven her to attack him. Sleep walking perhaps. In reality the sour meat had caused food poisoning which in turn made her a little bit insane. A little? Came his own voice in his head. A lot. Heroins voice was replaced with his own in response. He chuckled.
Once again the woman had found herself on the ground with the ebony man watching her quietly. Spawned from the devil she had spewed his poison and now she laid in it. His soft chuckle had turned into the full blown laughter of someone who knew an inside joke but didn't want to tell in, in case others didn't find it so funny. He was sure that her wounds stung, sure that she felt miserable. At this point in time he wasn't sure he cared. The sight of her pathetic form covered in mud and bile was amusing to him for some reason.
It was when her eyes slipped shut that he stopped laughing and watched in silence. She wasn't dead was she? If she was then he had failed at helping her. He didn't like failure and he surely wouldn't accept it. Her shallow breathing was what gave him peace of mind and her words made him chuckle again. "You don't remember do you? You're the one who did it, then you attacked me when I kept you from eating more of that foul carcass that made you so sick in the first place."
He wouldn't want to startle her to badly so he stepped into her view and took a seat.

In her brief slumber, her ears had picked up the sound and somewhere within the fog that began to lift in her mind, it rubled ominously, like the slow rolling thunder on the horizon that followed a storm. Whether or not this kind of episode would become common as she aged, even without the help of meat was unknown to her. The thought never entered her mind but her soul might have shuddered at the thought of becoming so helplessly far from reality in the future.
Her face gave a fast wince of shock as another figure appeared and began to speak. Ears folded themselves backwards at the words he spoke naming her as the bad guy. Quickly, her eyes darted to her pheripherals to view the source of a growing pain. Seeing blood in her pelt, feeling the soreness there, and the fact of vile seemingly everywhere, a chill drifted through her spine. He had to be right. She was indeed the being who had done this, attacked an innocent stranger, and was a terrible, terrible wolf.
What if the pack that she had begun knew of this? What of her hatred of Renatio and all who appeared to act it? It appeared she was becoming a hypocrite, and one whose hatred included herself. Her inner being snarled a thought of being sick, it wasn't her fault, and who cared what everyone else said.
Athena's mouth opened to speak, but before she could utter a sound, a putrid smell drifted through the air, the same smell of bile and stomach acid. Her neck wrenched in a stabbing motion to the ground and then returned to eye level. Her teeth quickly ground themselves on the dirt she had picked up, and then quickly spat it out. The difference in taste was immediate. Even dirt tasted and smelled better than the inside of her stomach.
With much better smelling breath now, she tried again. "You are right. But I don't like apologizing. That's a very nice thing you did.", was the best she could do for a compliment and thanks. "Where are you headed? I'll follow. I'm tired with this place. It all makes me sick.", she showed her teeth in both disgust for the dirt taste and the carcass. But it was all a double entente, she was sick of it all, all the wolves, all the lands, all the water, everything. It was all corrupt, even her.
Athena had no desire to go back to Simul today, not with all the squabbling, the inevitable clashes, and forever tension both internally and externally. With Caelius really starting to come home, as Cairo has said, and Alexandria's appearance and public backing of them, Athena had little doubt in her mind that Simul would fall. Especially in it's current state.
Even if it meant following a stranger around to escape the lonliness, she decided she'd rather be here than there.

"This is what I have to say." My thoughts, a cynical masterpiece.
As if he weren't black enough, mud and muck clung to his dark fur, flung about in their brief battle. What's worse was the slight bit of ice that had managed to cling to him as well. He looked as much of a mess as he did at this point, his body low to the ground, ears flat against his skull. She'd made a mistake and here she was, not even able to apologize for her misdoings or thank him for saving her. A soft rumbling growl was his only response.
When she asked him where he was going he grimaced. She had to be kidding, after what she just put him through she wanted to play tag-a-long? After thinking about it for a moment he found some sort of humor in it and chuckled softly but he still wasn't impressed. "I'm going wherever my feet take me, even if it means leaving these sorry looking lands. I'm not sure why others haven't begun leaving by now." Of course he really had no where else to go, so leaving wasn't really going to happen.
Offering her a genuinely fake smile he nodded. "Of course, you're quite welcome to come along if you don't plan on trying to eat me again." He cooed, his voice coming to the air with a mocking edge to it. Obviously he wasn't to happy with her behavior previously and he'd not be happy until she apologized or proved herself worth of his time.

Old or young, selective hearing had no age range, no emerging point in one's development, and cared not whom it seduced and lured to it's self-deceptive bounties of ego-stroking. Athena's ears heard the reply to her question in the positive. Yes, she could come along, and perhaps happily so, by the tone of the man's voice. Little did she hear or try to discern the mockery in it.
She thought of commenting but decided to keep quiet. Her head bowed a quick and solemn nod of acknowledgment and now-lighter feet shuffled her body into position slightly behind and to the side of his. It was the body language of 'lets go, I will follow'.
Apparently, behind the mistress who hated being ruled over was a will to follow. Perhaps this mindless will to obey was a mask and cast for internal wounds and hurt pride. How ironic considering her vehemence of the Caelius pack based primarily on their rigid structure and requirement of being lorded over, judged, and ranked.
